Travis is poor and will probably have this dell for a while. and by junk I mean things like aol and earthlink. both are completely useless to me.

you shouldn't need any other program to make it work. double check that you entered in everything corrrectly, including the pop name. If you don't know the pop name (its often pop.whatever.net) check at your email's website for it. If it still doesn't work fiddle around with things like your firewall. of course it may be that your email site doesn't work with it, but I find that highly improbable.

I got my pc with xp on it from dell and the sticker with the key on it is on the cd sleeve so if I can find the cd I have found the key. hehe that site is pretty funny though.

actually that doesn't cover the basic step that I really needed, a reformat. And I actually could have installed windows in about 4 hours if I didn't have to backup things to discs.

you can just get them to email them to you. thats what I did yesterday. took about 30 minutes for the email to send, but I'm not complaining all my object desktop stuff is back up and running smoothly.

Travis has figured out that next time he gets a new computer from a large company like dell the first thing he is going to do is reformat and install windows without the crap they put on it. When I first got my computer, out of the box it ran at about 150 megs of memory. Freshly formatted and reinstalled it runned at about 80 until I started adding the programs I need like office.

I just reformatted and reinstalled. It took about 3 hours, not including me backing up files which took a little over a day. Its not that bad. As long as you have the original cds for everything you will be alright, and just make a backup of your documents folder.
