so I gift them to an allied minor race and the minor keeps track of them for me. Very, very, very handy. Oh doh, hits forehead in a Homer Simpson kind of way! Why did'nt I think of this? I hate PQ 8 or less planets, so I could gift/trade them to my underlings, they develop/build them up, wow that's brilliant! Cheers Dr

My rules of thumb r:- Fleet ships of the same speed together only. Only fleet warships together (never include a non-combat ship in a fleet). My non-combat ships r always faster then my combat ships, so just end in same square as my war fleets for protection. Speed is the most important asset of ships. Early on it will be my best engine, plus weapons/defenses. Never anything else such as sensors or support. I have specialist non-combat ships for those roles

how possible are trade/economic victories Not possible. But, having a good economy is a must really to achieve any of the 4 types of victories. Virtually every player struggles in there first couple of games to balance spending/income. <T

Anyone with Visa/Mastercard/American Express should be able to order Dark Avatar no problem. If u have not got one of those chances r u will know someone that does, just get them to order it for u. As a added bonus the dollar vs pound rate is very good at the mo, nearly 2-1. The banks do not rip u off either, its just there normal conversion rate. I know this from my trip to Las Vegas last yr...

A blackhole would swallow all the nukes on Earth...the Earth its self...then all the planets in the solar system plus any other matter hanging around...then after that snack would start the main course our sun. After all that it would still be hungry... What's a nuke to that?

The (insert already powerful civilization name here) has discovered several (20 or so) ships on (planet name here)and our scientists have classified them as Rangers (gulp) ==2 turns later== On a diplomatic mission to (above civilizations homeworld) our ambassador accidentally insulted the emperors wife, and as a result they have declared war on us. ==2

I never build planet defense or orbital fleet manager, I think they're a waste of a tile I agree totally. At some future point, perhaps those could be changed to be useful. I find the entire idea of defending plan

Wiki on influence starbases:- Influence Starbases are starbases that either (1) project their influence like a planet or (2) increase the influence of planets in its effect radius. Various modules improve this ability. Does it do (1) or (2) or both ? Someone please expand this topic with the correct information. My understanding is that it amplifies the effect of your influence in squares inside its radius, just like a military starbase amplifies attack and

As an evil race, researching beyond mortality going for a tech victory. Had fundamentalist event, lost 3 out of my 5 planet empire (very rare everything), had to retake those 3 planets well fending off all the other races which took turns declaring war on me. Lengthened the game by 250+ turns. Had good fun tho and was a memorable game.

Decent idea, training yr crews on yr starships. Make them earn there pay during peacetime. U could have a planetary improvement line like u outlined and a wonder perhaps that had a galaxy wide effect, ie...+10xp/turn upto lvl 20. Or would that be too powerful?

Yet one of my favorite, heavily protected planet (lot of bonus tiles!), is surrounded by 4 alien planets 1 planet CANNOT compete with 4 planets influence wise. Planets r the most important source of influence via population in the galaxy. Everything else influence wise simply multplies yr base influence produced on yr planets. Yr only

Is it better to move up taxes at the cost of Morale A good rule of thumb is raise taxes to where yr lowest planet is at 45% approval. If it declines below 45%, just drop taxes 1%. U also know which worlds u need to build a morale centre on as well. As u do this u can raise yr taxes further over time. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" a

Too late, we moved on from 1.2 ages ago and r now on 1.3b2a. Not bad work in just 2 days! Why not download 1.3b2a from stardock central and help the developers bugfix. U seem to have a knack for it? I have been playing 1.3b2a for a week now and it seems very stable with no major problems.

So in the endfase there could be a galactic map without many planets a few dyson sphere’s and different or new gameplay possibilitiy’s. Giant spacewars and epic battles. Dyson shere's r a good idea, but no planets, very bad idea. The most important resource in the game is a planet, the higher PQ the better, I enjoy developing a high PQ planet.<

Never had a game last that long. But I have never played with those setings. I would say:- Tiny - Small maps 4hrs - 10 hrs. Medium - 10hrs - 20hrs. Gigantic - 10hrs - 40 hrs. Not played other map sizes. My game settings vary but r usually Abundant everything, Suicidal, AI algorithims on, loose clusters, tech rate very fast.
