The game is about galactic domination of one race over the others by one of four ways. Military conquest or cultural domination or diplomatic unification or asendency to a all powerful being via technology. U can quote me on that. Of course that explanation, does not even come close to describing the fun, addictivness the game is in getting there. On top of that the ship designer is a independent software tool in its own right, allowing u to create any starship u want from an

And don't blame the AI for being stupid at challenging. It's still braindead. It does not matter what level u r playing at. I play at suicidal 1.3b2a, AI algorithims on. In the game I am currently playing the Yor have 5 planets left, I have 33 planets, they have 4 powerful ships in orbit around 4 of there worlds, giving them the highes

Yes, the night time lights are generated automatically by the game. They are based on the population on the planet and the area of inhabitable terrain. I have never noticed this feature in over 30+ games. Never had a new minor race turn up in the galaxy either. I would hazard a guess that my games r too short, all less then 9 yrs? Mos

I'm not sure what would be causing them to take 50 weeks to decomission a building since mine is instant. I have just encountered this bug in 1.3b2a, beating the Yor up badly, they r nearly destroyed. Conquered a planet, found decommission starport at top of build queue, was listed as completed in 50 turns time. Just cancelled it, so no big dra

Just to set a record, I turned on allied victory, and set all races to be allied with me at the start. 1 week victory! Beat that. I tried this and it worked pre 1.2 I believe, as it was so disgustingly cheesey never saved the result to the metaverse and never did it again. Stardock have fixed it now, so in metaverse games the closest u

I just like making games. Please continue, Frogboy, u do a very good job. Just for the record in the UK, 2 main gaming outlets r Gamestation and Game, both still stock GC2 at 29.99 pounds ($50'ish dollars?), it still sells each week and gets re-stocked on a regular basis. Like a lot of turn based strategy games it will contin

There already is a place for fan fiction on this site. It's called AAR which means After Action Reports, so u can tell stories from yr games or just plain make stories up that r set in the GC universe. For really good examples on AAR's or fan fiction if u prefer look at the paradox entertainment forums, those r for medival era to WW2 era. The amount of effort they put in is considerable and make for a very good read. I enjoy reading fictional accounts based on players games a

You know it seems like for every update, there is something that makes the game worse, even with all the great things the update has ( I wonder if they'll mutilate the game even worse in the expansion). Cheer up, I am sure all will be well in 1.3 (final version). <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-

R u in debt? If u go below -500 BC's I think (long time since I have been there), your production is automatically lowered to try to get u out of it. Try setting production to 100% or as high as it will let u, then put the social production to 100%. Can u build anything now? If u have a huge debt, try to explore anomalies (hope for a money one), raise taxes (regardless of morale in the short term if yr in serious trouble), build markets, raise population, establish tr

In v1.2 many planets have no factories and most have no farms. Is this still the case in v1.3? No, after just 1-2 yrs most planets have 3xfacs, 1xfood, then eco or tech or influence buildings. This was in 2, 1.3b1 games that I completed, suicidal (ultimate intelligence). The AI planetary development is very close to how I develop my worlds, so

Yea, I would like to see space monsters make a reappearance, perhaps they could have a planet where they breed, once u conquer it no more space monsters? Several different varietys would be cool and interesting. An option at the start of the game to vary them from none to abundant would make everyone happy. Let's add it to future wish list!

Well done on not giving up, the most challenging games r often the best, I hate a walk over. I especially like:- The Korx and the Torians had both changed alignment, the korx became good and the torians evil. A torian attack on the korx sparked a war between these two powers. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smile

Tech paths I leave until I have got everything else r Senors Mk 2 onwards, Deeper knowledge onwards, Manufacturing Centers onwards, the 2 weapons/defense paths yr not following, Starbase Defense p

but after several initial victories I'm running out of population to turn into troops Where is the Aphrodisiac? The 50% pop. growth it gives u would solve yr pop/soldier problems. Mumblefratz says:- How do you get a 314% research bonus? Is this a civilization wide bonus or an individual planet bonus? As far as I can tell the max civilization research bonus would be 20% for racial ability, 20% for Technologists Party, 10% for the Planetary Improvement tech and 20% for the Hyper Computer trade good for a total of 90%. There's also 100% for Te
