Newbie questions are wonderful, they make a joyous break from flames/MP requests Yea, anythings better than those multi-player fan boys...

1. I return espionage spending to 0BC after I hit advanced level. May be you have to continue to spend money to steal any techs. I keep my espionage spending when I have reached advanced going and steal techs via espionage. I believe espionage skill, luck skill and spending on espionage effect tech stealing. I have stolen techs from all races

I agree with ALL MarshallONeils points but they are doing the exact same things on smaller maps, its just not as noticable. On a medium sized map I am currently playing the game came down to myself (Thalans), Arceans (game leader by a long way) and Altarians (equal to me), started with the max. no of races. The 2 AI's looked like there spending was 80% - 100% on military production with the rest on a small amount of research, zero on planetary development, I scrolled through all there worlds w

Had this happen in one of my games with the Arceans, they were way in the lead as the no 1 military power. They were stacking fleets of ships in 1 parsec of space. It seems like a insurance policy against anyone going to war with them. As soon as any race went to war with them...boom...a couple of turns later they were an ex-race. I saved my game then declared war on them, they went through me like a knife through butter, destroying all my fleets/ships/starbases/trade routes in less then 6 t

This rampant cheating makes me appreciate the A.I of GalCiv II (only problem is that your game is kinda boring....) How dare u! Boring, r u mad? How can space battles, borg cubes vs federation ships, romulan warbirds vs vipers etc, etc be boring? Perhaps u just prefer the fantasy setting to sci-fi? I

No matter what u do, a minority will complain about it. But the majority love the effort u put into the game. Looking forward to 1.3 and Dark Avatar. The only aspect of the AI which is really poor still and if made better would improve the game considerably is the AI's planetary development. Its terrible to poor at developing planets. I play at suicidal level, I do not use cheesey exploits or any other dodgey tactics. The main reason I can still beat the AI is because of its awful

usa currency is backed up by gold in our treasury thats why we cant print endless amounts of it. This was, repeat, was called the gold standard. In theory u could take a dollar into a bank and exchange it for a dollars worth of gold. That was abandoned decades ago because there is not enough gold on Earth to cover all the dollars in circulat

Can someone explain research to me? Usually beings in white lab coats (for some reason this applies to all races even the Yor), tend to be geeky looking, no girlfriend (or fellow tin can in the case of the Yor) and talk in meaningless riddles(even with universal translater), but understandable by anyone else wearing a white lab coat. They move

The Iconians and Arceans don't get any bonuses, actually, and the Altarians get very, very close to no bonuses. They do get bonuses, just not obvious ones, have'nt u noticed how powerful the Arceans r once they get going?

When u conquer a races capital world I think u should get all of there treasury. The capital world is special, its the centre of your civilization, the heart of your empire. It should be protected at nearly any cost, if u were to lose all your treasury, I think u would protect it all the more.

Econ bases can affect something other than freighters? Yea, try putting 4 eco starbases in four sectors, overlapping 1 or 2 planets which are your tech and manufacturing capitals. 6,000 research points or production points rocks. Of course every other planet in your empire has to be econmic orientated to fund those mega planets. Re

Oh! Then I guess the bug is, if I select a soldiering bonus, then unselect it, the +25% bonus goes away! It is not a bug, its working the way it was designed. If u spend points in soldiering, u give up your natural bonus. Effectively handicapping yourself in relation to the other races. The custom race also gets a loyalty bonus which

I have played GC2 since it was originally released, after a couple of games I increased the difficulty to suicidal level and stayed there since. I am interested in seeing if the AI at any future point can beat me. Since it was released, the AI has improved, making it harder to play at suicidal level, most notably at 1.1 and again at 1.2. This has challenged me to continue playing the game. <TR

Agree with most of what's been said but with 2 exceptions, trade and starbases (of all types) are both useful and crucial parts of the game. I have easily pulled in over 2,000 BC's from trade every turn (use eco starbases) and had 1 planet churning out nearly 6,000 research points, u after defend them with fleets, however. What has not been mentioned so far r planetary defense, oribtal fleet manager, both I consider a useless waste of space, built each of those once and never since.

True the galaxy is not infinite, but the universe? Who knows? Certainly no one on earth, it may or may not be infinite. Its so BIG that we may as well consider it infinite. There is no cover up, aliens have never visited Earth, if they ever did we would all know about it. There is no conspiracy ,period. Life, virtually 100% certain to exist. Intelligent life? Totally unknown. Its possible we are totally unique. Given the amount of signals we are broadcasting i

If you're playing with tech trading off on the highest levels...well, when you work out a way to win convincingly please be sure to come back and let me know. I play suicidal, 1.2, no tech trading, starting relations unknown, everything abundant, medium map size or lower (rubbish pc) tech speed very slow (a very enjoyable game) or very fast (no

I would like to 3rd the motion, with 2,345,786 influence points, hopefully that may persuade the developers to look closely at this good idea. Alot of people recently voted for better diplomacy/politics, giving the UP more power/involvement in the galaxy sounds cool to me. I play with tech trading off now but I do miss it and would like to see it make a return in a more balanced way. Evil races should have the ability to 'pull the wool' over the UP, or stretch
