@megablob I second xpyre’s earlier research comments. In addition, if you tech trade, the advantages in technology let you score more points earlier in the other categories. For instance, you are building ships that are worth more points at an earlier date. I have played games at different tech settings, the higher the tech pace, in general, the better the score

Trust me on this. Don't go near MOO3, u will regret it, its the worst sequel ever in gaming history. It was made all the more so, real crushing dissappointment, by the fact that MOO2 was brilliant, fantastic, great, marvelous, u get the picture. Try hunting down MOO2, the only drawback today is its a bit dated graphics wise, but its still has loads of playability.

I play at suicidal level all the time. The AI at the start will zoom ahead of you, he will colonise more planets, gain tech at a breathtaking speed and build a nasty looking military force. This is because the AI is cheating with a 200% bonus to military/social and research production. But the developers have stated repeatedly this is the case, its to give players like me a challenge. Its simply impossible at the present time to develop a AI that can compete against a human being, it will re

well, I had a game where the drengin were quite powerful (#1 military), and they attacked the torians. A few turns later I got a message from either the iconians or the altarians (I forget which) saying the drengins attack was unprovoked and they were planning to do something about it, and that I was welcome to join in. Next turn, the altarians and the iconians

note about constructors here: Why can each constructor create only one module. It would be much nicer, if we could place like 3 construction modules on a ship and be able to construct 3 modules with just one ship. It takes longer to build, I know - but it would be exceptionaly useful during wars when you want to create starbases and arm them immediately. I know it is not

About 3 years on average on suicidal, medium map size. I am like yourself, I have never researched the entire tech tree. Have had the black hole gun and doom rays in two different games and they are nice... To see more of the tech tree try turning tech speed up to very fast, with tech trading on. U get to see most of it then. Playing on a bigger map helps too (I can't as my machine is one year from next upgrade), sigh...

Tech trade everything you can Bad idea, u get a lot more points for researching a tech rather then trading it. Do you need to keep them happy? my guess is that you don't need to keep them that happy if you've m

I like this forum and would prefer to see it stay. It's in people's nature to complain, rather then praise. The fact that they complain about aspects of the game, stardock or the forum is a sign that they care, are interested and just want to see it improved. Having said that, if its a choice between concentrating resources on future game development, design or keeping this forum. Then I would always vote on future development and design. The civfanat

Lets face facts, planetary building by the AI's is terrible and undermines everything the AI's do the longer the game goes on. The AI's in the areas like colonization, research r excellent and combat is now good. But all this is undermined in the long run by its abysmal performance in developing its planets.

This is a planet the Terrans colonized at the beginning of the game, and they have never been at war, so they didn't sabotage themselves. It's June 2228. All AIs were set to Incredible (I checked) and they played like it, except for this. It looks like a bug because their social spending is very low, there's nothing in the build queue, but they're focusing on social produc

Economy the easy way:- Select 70% population growth in starting abilities, put the rest in eonomics and select federalists. Never be poor again... you get shafted by not playing Technologists, so only play Federalists if you're desperate). Err... this is not true and is not good advice. But all the rest of DreadArchon's

Get 130% population growth, they will never catch u then. Easy to do as well, buy +70% pop. growth as a starting ability, universalists government and then build aphrodisiac.

If you invade a planet that has it, that means you can now trade it yourself. The original builders of trade good special then lose the bonus but if u trade for the bonus u can never lose it.

I like my paper tech tree, I refer to it constantly even through I have played loads of games, looking a bit tatty now, no doubt it will eventually come apart at the seams like my civilization one did Seen a few comments attacking the tech tree in other posts, I really, really like the GC2 tech tree, its straight forward and easy to understand. Civilization could be well confusing and Hearts of

found it really odd in the campaign scenario 'Salvation' that Earth was not set as the Terran Alliance capitol, had only one billion people, and its only improvement was a starport Yea, I agree completely, this annoyed me as well, Earth should have been fully developed (every tile with a building on, even if it was only a basic one) and have h

I do the following:- 1) Every planet has the equivalent of 4 factories, making every planet a industrial one. 2) Then a planet is a tech planet or money planet. 2-1 in favour of money. 3) 1 or 2 planets usually of low quality r reservered for building 'specials', trade goods, galactic achievements etc... It's 'painful', rearranging conquered planets, as the AI is still very poor when it comes to planetary development, seems to not bother building anyth

The reason this was not big news in Europe is because here in the US the government is trying to keep us in a climate of fear. Everyday on the news is something else about murderers or missile tests or possible terrorist attacks or a raise of the threat level and so on. This is just one way for the government to keep us at least partially agreeing with stupid policy decisi

Iso's ugly face appeared above the Speak To button next time I went to Foreign Relations, and I really wanted to click the button and ask him how eternity in the deepest pits was going... but I have enough ctd's with my older computer and didn't want to risk it.
