I have to giggle at ads that say "Don't slave over an oven all Thanksgiving". They want you to order one of their turkeys to be delivered. With modern technology, you can hardly go wrong with a turkey these days. Buy a good turkey (I recommend Butterball) with a pop-up timer, set your oven for the recommended temp (they give directions on the packaging) and roast for the recommended amount of time per pound. They self baste. All you have to do is wait for the popper to pop. Oh, the most

You are knowledgable about music I take it (from the terminology you used). What do you think of Josh Grobin? I have an appreciation for strong, well disciplined singers. His voice has so much strength and control! I just close my eyes and breathe in his voice when I listen to him.

On date night with my husband last night, we saw "Elf". I loved it! I laughed so hard I had tears a couple of times. I am with kids all day every day so had an appreciation of how well Will Ferrell captured the innocent weirdness of a child. My husband didn't think it was as funny as I, but did say it was a "put a smile on your face" movie that would probably be a new classic. If you are a sucker for the old Christmas classics like Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa Clause is Coming to Town

Did you read my blog "Jessica Lynch vs Shoshana Johnson"? Do you know how many soldiers have fought bravely and suffered in war? Do you think the media could possibly cover all of those stories? The government and media latch onto stories that they think will help morale. Amongst all the ugliness of war, we were able to recover that pretty POW from nowhere USA. Makes me feel good. About the whole Penthouse thing. Larry Flynt says he won't print pictures of her but plainly did hi

You are so right KarmaGirl. The true heros, the guys that saved her, refused to release their names. They just see their acts as what a soldier does. You never leave your own behind whether they are alive or not (they also brought back the bodies of the others that were buried near the hospital where they found Jessica). I don't think the whole hype over Jessica is right. I just don't think it has anything to do with race. It has to do with sensationalism and made-for-TV movies. G

Turtles are a great pet for the cheap and lazy (like myself). They eat about 1 $.50 can of food/week until it gets cold (then they dig under ground until they warm up). No grooming, shots, etc. They don't wake you up to go for a walk. They don't puke on your bed (big selling point for me!). They are fun to watch and they live forever if you treat them well. I love dogs though. I will just visit yours :)

Did any of you wonder why Jessica got so much attention? Did you hear mutterings about the African-American woman (Shoshana) that got shot in both legs? I did. I watched the Jessica Lynch interview last night. There was a lot of information to be gleened out of the sensationalism. I finally think I understand what the deal is. Basically, there were no witnesses to what exactly happened to Jessica. Everyone else in her vehicle died. She herself isn't even a very good witness since

Your schedule reminds me of my high school days. You help with a first grade class and have a 3yr old nephew. I have a son in first grade and a 3yr old son at home.

I didn't have a planned c-section but was induced. I remember the excitement and relief at the thought that the baby would finally be there. I look forward to seeing the pictures. Newborns are so funny. They are all so precious but most of them still look like little old people :) Nice, plump newborns are the cutest. I'm sure yours will be the cutest newborn ever (at least in your eyes and that's the way it should be).

CariElf, people who marry even when they shouldn't is really a different subject than what I am referring to. You are right that being divorced before having kids is much better. Once you have kids you are linked for life. If you don't have kids, you can start all over again. My point, whether I am making it effectively or not, is that couples put their relationship on the back burner in order to do all of the things that society is telling them they need to do. How many times do we

A friend sent this article and asked me to find out from any Germans that I knew what they thought. I think it was clever of the first group. I think, like they said, it would be safe for them becasue of the media surrounding it. It sounds like it could be dangerous for any that follow. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/lifestyle_germany

I don't get out a lot and am limited in the types of people I interact with. I am interested in what a typical day in the life of people out there is like. For instance, my typical day: I am usually the first up in the morning (not by choice! I am not a morning person) I get my son up and ready and off to school. I get my preschooler some breakfast and get him watching some cartoons or playing with cars. I throw some laundry in (every day!) to wash. I grab some

I am currently reading a book called "Bringing up Boys". It basically says that a mothers main job for the first few years is to keep the child from killing himself. I've done that for almost 7yrs now. It also says to enrich the individuals interests. Most boys are testosterone driven sports nuts. Some aren't. Mine seems to be the latter. He has been referred to as weird. I think he is sensitive, emotional and a deep thinker (as 6yr olds go). He loves drawing, building and creating. He

I am very mindful of obesity and type 2 diabetes since they are both in my family. The last time my kids got blood tests, the dr said that their iron levels and cholesterol levels looked great and to keep up the good work. What do my kids do differently? They aren't forced into 3 meals a day. They are both snackers which keeps blood sugar levels from spiking. I don't let my food preferences guide what I give them. My 6yr old loves peppers, lima beens and boiled eggs as snacks. Neither are

I am a newbie in the world of blogging but am totally hooked! I have been enjoying the benefits of email for a long time now. Having two little ones at home, it is so much easier to email than to correspond via phone. I am now hooked on reading and commenting on the thoughts of so many interesting people from all over the world. How great is that?! I am learning more about world politics because my interest is more sparked by this venue than a dry TV commentary or a book that I can'
