Man. These bink people don't make it easy to watch these without their player. I finally found a dll that would play these with sound/without crashing in an old version of Media Player Classic (apparently the new versions don't have this feature). And it wasn't the dll in GalCiv 2 :S

Most of your arguments are sound. I have always felt that if multiplayer were to be a part of a 4x game, it should be planned for, but released later as an expansion so it isn't rushed in, and so other features aren't sacrificed for it. I'm still hoping for a multiplayer expansion, even if it's just play by email. It does take resources, and you guys are in the business of making money like anyone else, so please continue to stay in business!

Minimum specs are a 32MB video card that supports DirectX 9.0c features. Honestly, I would suggest buying a better video card if possible as you'll get a nice graphical boost out of it (the high-res textures are stunning). Maybe this card doesn't. My home machine has a decent card though... with a li

Are you hinting that Venus is a COLD planet? I always though that Venus was how Earth could end if the Greenhouse effect become too strong. No, sorry if it read that way. I was saying regardless of the extreme, altering a planet to make it more habitable is easier than interstellar travel.

Yes, When was the last time that you looked at a map of the solar system and saw that all of them looked even remotely hospitable? First off, you certainly could set up research stations on any planet or gas giant's moons in the solar system. Mercury is not a useless hunk of rock. We are studying mo

My one interface complaint at this point is that I'm never exactly sure where a planet is when I'm picking the next thing to build there. In Civ III it's easy to tell, because the city screen is basically the map of the surrounding area. At the start of a turn you get a column of alerts that tell you what's finished being built, and if you double click, it opens that planet up. But where is that planet? Where the planet is is a big factor in what I want to choose, and it's a hassl

Where traditional PBEM would fall down with GC2 however (in my very limited PBEM experience), is in those times where every human involved is just hitting the turn button waiting for something to happen. I can see one way to speed this up, with two variations on the theme I described how to get around

Here to throw my apparently non-burning fuel on the fire. I would rather find a system with only one planet, and have it be class 4 then find a system with 5 class zero planets. THEY DO NOTHING. Why are they even in the game??

Yeah, I've created new ships in my current game, then tried to upgrade them a few turns later without loading or anything, and it is still broken. As a result, I don't put any time into the ship builder because my awesome ship designs are lost every time a new tech comes around.

I know it's not mainstream, but a friend and I play extremely long play-by-email games of Civ III: Conquests. The only downside to it is the goofy implementation of multiplayer (most of the pop ups aren't there, and there are some strange bugs) but it is extremely playable. The advantage is you have more time to think about what you want to do and you don't get stuck playing until 5am because you have to wait for the other player. The key for this t

All useful items in the ship designer (engine, weapons, etc) disappear when upgrading a ship. I've reported this before, but it's still broken. The items cannot be selected on the 3D model. They are blank squres in the list of things on the ship. There's no way to delete them, and therefore no way to upgrade a ship. Is this only happening to me or what?

I've been complaining about this for a while. I'm not saying they should all be class 10, but if I say abundant, I'm thinking abundant, as in no systems with 5 class zero planets. It's like a continent with nothing but mountains on it in Civ 3. you don't see it, because it's useless to the game.

I've been playing trying to get the game to crash, but it isn't cooperating. But I did notice a weird issue with upgrading my ships. When I click upgrade in the ship designer, the important parts that I would want to upgrade (like weapons & defense) are missing. There's a space for them in the boxes, but I can't select it to remove it. Clicking on the part on the 3D model doesn't work either. Also, obsolete upgrade components are still present in the parts list. If I have a smaller

The church IS accepting money from the tobacco company. There was a big campaign to block the sale of beer and wine in a city I was living in. The churches were accepting large contributions to fight beer and wine sales by liquor stores in the next town. They won. Money makes a man act fu
