It just seems like we are getting class zero planets instead of 1-3. Why not just lower the PQ numbers so 4 is 1? If habitable planets are abundant, there should be an even spread of PQ from 0-whatever. Instead it's most planets are zero, and usually one or two 10+ planets in a system. If 1-3 were removed to get rid of useless planets, why are there so many zeros? They are just an annoying decoration. Here's an idea, maybe

I don't think so.. not that I've been able to play a lot of games on the new build. The only ship that seemed excessively expensive to upgrade was when, out of curiousity, I tried to upgrade my flagship to a medium-hull, heavily armed fighter. And that seemed appropriate. I might sing a different tune after playing more though.

That's what I thought, it looked weird to me anyway. Can we get that fixed to spin the other way? Though a few going the other way would look cool, as well as rings & moons at odd angles every now & then.

It's really confusing in it's current state. I would argue for multiplying everything by 10 (spaces available, spaces used) and then applying miniaturization to the components. So a 10% miniaturization bonus to something taking up 70 spaces would make it only use up 63. I'm sure the way the game is coded makes it easier to increase the spaces available on the ship, but that coupled with parts getting bigger is just bizarre. I say multipl

Then why not make 4 into 1? Sounds a little like an "it goes up to 11" situation. Was there a reason for taking 1-3 out? I wouldn't mind settling on a class 1-3 planet just to throw down a few extra labs or something. I could see us putting a research station on mercury in the future, for example. It wouldn't be a thriving colony, but it would be something to cut down on the useless planets.

Well, bad news. The driver on ATI's site says something alone the lines of it not being compatible with my card. They only have drivers for the ATI Rage Pro, not the ATI Rage Ultra. Dell had drivers, but after installing them I found that sadly they are the exact same version I have already. Omega Drivers only has drivers for the ATI Radeon. Looks like that's all I can do for you testing on a 32MB graphics card at the moment. If you

Just a note that in the new version I'm still seeing the same PQ issue. Habitable planets set to abundant, yet there are still systems with 5 useless zero planets. The lowest PQ I've seen is 5. I've seen a few 7's also. I would think "abundant" would mean few zero planets. I've never seen PQ 1-3. Mars is the lowest I've seen with 4, but it's the only 4 I've seen.

I noticed all the moons in the game are orbiting planets in the opposite direction of the rotation of the planet. I was just curious if this was pretty universal with moons in real life, and if not if we should see some variation in the game.

Heh, this is my work machine. I was specifically testing with it because you guys requested testing for 32MB video cards. I will try to uninstall the drivers, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing. I wonder why Windows update wouldn't give the latest drivers?

Sorry, I didn' t know about debug.err. I sent it to [email protected]. As for the drivers, this is how I updated them, so I'm guessing I have the latest: - Right clicked desktop, selected properties - Selected the Settings tab - Clicked the Advanced button - Selected the Adapter tab - Clicked the Properties button - Selected the Driver tab - Clicked Update Driver... - Windows asked if it c

Gah.. I knew something was up with that. So I guess I get the arguments for some components, but explain to me why a beam weapon that does no more damage on a smaller ship takes up more space on a larger ship? Why not just give the larger ship less spaces and do away with this confusing scaling? Or better yet, get rid of the confusing scaling and leave the number of spaces alone. I was really disappointed having researched all the way t

If there aren't wormholes, then maybe it would make sense to remove wormhole related techs since you can't actually create or use wormholes outside of the random one-time warping ones. I know I'm not the only one who was seriously let down after researching 4 levels of worm hole techs in Galciv 1 only to find out there were no worm holes. And that planet creation didn't allow me to create planets. Pretty bold names for techs that don't d

My main complaint is when you set habitable planets to abundant, I'm still seeing systems with five class zero planets. I don't care if they are class 1, class zero is useless and serves no purpose in the game at all. Even a planet like mercury would be class one, we could set up a small research station there on the day/night line. A planet like Venus would be class 0 until some significant terraforming and shielding techs, but in the end would be

When colonizing a lot of planets it's easy to lose track of when a space port is complete. It's so easy to queue more improvements, and there's no notification until a planet has completed all items in the queue. Maybe the notification could also come up when a space port is completed so it doesn't sit idle until you happen to notice it while cycling through cities.

I still say permanent worm holes suck. That's been my opinion prior to GC1, and I haven't read anything here to persuade me they'd add to the fun of GC2. Why not have them in the game with the option to be turned off then? One-time ones are neat and all, but generally just send your ship out of range

I noticed the planet and star names disappear when zooming way out on the map. I think the star names should remain, at least until it gets impossible to read. I understand it would be cluttered with all the planet names, but it would be useful to still know what the system names are.

I was playing more into the game than I had previously, and had a lot of colony ships grabbing planets. But I was getting confused about where the planet was I just colonized. For example, if I land on a crappy class 5 planet... should I make it a research base? Should I make it a cultural center? Hard to tell because I don't know where the planet is in relation to other races. Maybe a mini map popup could be added to the planet screen so I don't h

This is running on my machine at work, Windows XP Professional version 2002, service pack 2. Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.00GHz, 1.00GB RAM with an amazing 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra video card. Started the game, noticed the text was sitting low on the buttons on the title screen. Clicked to start new game, noticed there was no spinning galaxy graphic. Also noticed the Back/Next buttons were only showing the top half of the graphic. Clicked next all the way through, the loadin

Not sure what's going on. I just tried to load my game and it crashed. Tried posting again, still can't find the post. It should be in Beta Reports. Here's what it said, I'll remove this if the mystery of the missing post is solved: Started the game, noticed the text was sitting low on the buttons on the title screen. Clicked to start new game, noticed there was no spinning galaxy graphic. Also noticed the Back/Next buttons were only showing the top half of the graphic.<b
