OK, I'm taking over this thread and heading it back to planet Earth - sounds like some of you seekers have sought some illicit substances approaching New Year
Thanks Wombie, it did seem headed for left field, way out in left field.... Terl attempted another quest last night but is failing miserably! Seems he should have used the Ctrl-N on his console before proceeding with the attack ;). Terl will beat a hasty retreat, and, as is his custom, he shall search fo

Thank you Hermann the Lombard! An exploit maybe, yet, those pirates I kick out of my area may have just spilled the beans during question ;) Yeah, that is it! I really appreciate these strategy forums. I have learned a great deal of very relevant tips after reading through most of the threads. Now to get out of work, get home, and start playing again! Stupid work....
I'd say GalCiv is more like a good restaurant: lots of flavors on the menu, and so good you just keep coming back for more. We even have a nice hostess checking on the customers regularly, taking feedback, and making adjustments to the recipes.
What a fine analogy this is! Well said. And just like food in a fine restaurant, with GalCiv, you just have to have one more bite...

Terl tapped on the comm panel, still nothing. Darn that Zzt! The maintenance was getting pretty sloppy around the fleet right now. With his comm out, he could not send the battle results to headquarters! The techs have been notified and comm should be restored by this evening.
Part of the beauty of this system it you win before your economy stagnates
That seems to be a problem I run into, being new to the game. I am currently playing a huge and the economy has bogged down considerably. Reviewing everything last night, it looks like I overbuilt. I am running with a maintenance cost of 1132 BC's. What should I start killing on some of my worlds, morale things or what? The game is very winnable, but with my current economy I have slow

Thanks. This is a very interesting thread. I have been working at something like this (I am still new) as I experiment with the game more. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my tech and building order is quite similar to the one listed.
I think he means setting the mini map to display influence.
OK. I like using the drones myself. I send them so they sweep in the most efficient manner.

We have probably knocked it from 15 down to a 14 and are headed for thirteen if we don't start cleaning up a bit. As crowded as it is getting I am sure our morale is slipping too. Maybe it is time to load up colony ships and hunt down a PQ 20 or better ;) I'll toss one in the queue later :) [Message Edited]

Welcome to the club! :D Try being married and getting "aren't you sick of that game yet" and "you aren't paying as much attention to me lately, why?" ;) :D What adds to all the fun too, is the more you play, the more you learn, and the more plans you want to try out on the next game. Enjoy!! :D :D
True they can't fight but they sure do bring in the money. Seems they are a must to keep an good economy going.
Very true! Remember this before you get involved in a war with the others! They go staright for your freighters and *bam* income is gone! I always research so I can get more trade routes also as I love the extra income. As Seeker Master mentioned, come join our empire. Empires add another dimension to the game by allowing your submitted game scores
I guess brute force isn't always the answer (darn it!)...
You will find this to be true many times with this game ;) I also lure the little buggers off towards the AI. Last night they helped out a good deal by clearing a few ships for me before I invaded.
I was waiting for MOO III. When it came out, it was blasted on the MOO forums. At lot of people on that forum suggested GalCiv.
That is where I heard about it too. I also play Stars! and saw GalCiv mentioned in their newsgroup too.
In short, we've only been paid a fraction of what we were supposed to be paid. If it weren't for direct sales, we wouldn't be having this discussion at all, GalCiv.com would be gone we'd be looking for new jobs.
If I had known this, I never would have bought it at retail! You deserve every $ you get as this is one of the best TBS games I have ever played. I will be signing up for Drengin.net after the first of the year. I would rather Stardock make the $...
Also if you give them some gifts like a free tech or a free wonder usually their attitude towards you improve, also if you start sending freighters to them also their attitude will improve.
I am doing these things. Doesn't alignment have anything to do with it? I am currently "saintly" and the drengin are at the other end of the scale, obviously. I thought alignment impacted on relations too... I do also have fleets parked near Drengin space to set up the alph

I already culture bombed my ally out of the game as they were between me and the others. Once they were encircled they just flipped on their own one by one. Due to my alignment now I don't think either the arceans or drngin would be very friendly with me anyway. The Drengin have the top two sectors all the way across and adount 3-4 sometimes 5 down the east side(stopping 6 short from the bottom) with the minors on the east in the middle and the arceans intermingled. The Arceans have one litt

I am currently entrenched in a battle (huge size) and am going for the conquest. Only the Drengin and Arceans are left (and 2 minors, no big deal for them) and they are allies. I am culture bombing the Arceans so I do not have to fight two at once. I am also culture bombing the fringes of the Drengin's area as they are quite far flung. Our forces hopw to wrap this up tonight. ;) Hope everyone's holidays were great!

I had trouble with this at first too. Once the ship is selected, I move it back to one of my sectors. If I get the ship early, I use it to defend one of my systems. It will move to your own space.
