Part of the fun of the metaverse is being a part of an empire. The Jedi Republic is one such empire. When you post your scores to the metaverse they will be figured into the empire's total as well as letting you have your own score in the individual standings. The fun comes in with one empire trying to "take over" another. If you click on the metaverse button and then on the left you can click top empires and you will see the listings. Clicking on the empire name will take you to th

What I have been trying is to research the diplo and trade stuff, make an ally, and then buy/trade the military stuff. I toss up a few ships so I have some military (based on other events of course). If I can find a few planets I then set out for more of a conquest approach. If I don't find many, I set my sights on a different approach. Question on ships: If they are not launched, do they still help in a planet's defense?
develop the cultural modules
Ah! That is what I am not seeing. I have not gotten to those modules yet. I am starting a new game tonight so I will see how it goes. As for the wonders, I have started getting more of them. That is one of the things that led to the cultural win I had. I am learning to work those sliders real well :) The second game yesterday I had four of the nice trade goods. I made sure I got the diplo translators, mostly because I was si
Anyway my proposition stands, if anyone in the empire feels like the fall of our empire from 3rd to 5th is my fault and wishes for me to be out of the empire let me know and I will step out without any hard feelings.
Not me if you are looking for votes ;) We just have a bit longer road to go to get our position back. All the more reason to play more GalCiv :D LOL :CONGRAT:
cultural bombard the AI
I haven't quite figured this one out yet as to how to swing them culturally. The first game, I was quite happy with the alliance victory. I had a horrible starting position (I always play what comes up) with just two planets in the top northwestern corner and nowhere else to go. I went mostly research and trade at that point. The second game was also close. The Arceans were to my north and east and had grabbed some stuff near
Well looks like it is my fault that Alex left
There is probably more to it than that, Mayo. It does sting though, losing the numbers, but we will just have to work harder. :D I turned in two games yesterday. The first I won an alliance with only two systems! I felt proud of that one. Question on alliances though: If my ally goes to war a message asks if I will support him. I always say yes, but, is it saying yes that is important or does the game look for

I have read in other posts about archiving the current copy using Stardock Central....what is this process and is it something that will create a file that could be burned to cd so I would not have to download the patches again if I had to reinstall? Thanks.
Working sucks.
Oh so true. I keep trying to win the lotto. The goal is to start a company with select friends. The company's goal will be to achieve high scores in games. No other purpose, just for fun. Get state-of-the-art pc's, servers and such. :D
I don't know call me hard core, but i always take the first map i'm given
I do the same. The one I have now sucks, but, hey, that is the galaxy I "live in" so I just play it. I would never claim ctrl-n is cheating, just saying how I play. It is fun trying to dig out of a situation. It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a game as much as GalCiv. :D [Message Edited]
Heh. I was in the RoN beta, and after I got GalCiv I just never thought it worthwhile to buy the retail version of RoN
Yeah, I was kind of disappointed with it (not like I was/am with MOO3 though :p ). XP cleaned up my unused icons on my desktop yesteday. All that is left now is the windows standard ones and GalCiv. :D My next goal is to convince my wife I need the Drengin.net upgrade LOL

You could always swing the other way....the evil interface is easier on the eyes ;) I played my first couple games as evil and then tried as good and was also hit by how bright the screen is. You get used to it though...
CGW doesn't even have us on the list for strategy games. IGN does, though, and we beat Rise of Nations in the first round at Quarter To Three.
Hmmm, CGW sure missed it on this one then! GalCiv beat RoN on my pc. I played RoN every night until I got GalCiv. Since then, I have not started RoN. Nothing against RoN just that GalCiv is more fun, to me anyway. Interesting though that they pit a TBS against an RTS, but cool that you beat them! Go Stardock!

I appreciate your wisdom and honor as a fellow warrior, Dark Lord Assassin. It is true, our time is not yet come. Who can say which paths we may cross or those we may walk together. Until our next meeting, fare well in your travels. [Message Edited]
i have a weapon similar to the BFG9000 from that old doom game. there is no way a whimpy little sword will deflect a blast like that!
One cannot hit, what one cannot see; should you aim to the west, we shall come from the east. It may be a wimpy sword to you for you are unaware of its use in battle. Putting a B and an F only increases your self assuredness, raises morale, and ultimately clouds your judgment. Be not so sure or trusting of your BFG. :p :D

That is true, it is not time to teach, yet, one cannot teach what a prospective student would fail to grasp. You have spoken well, Admiral. I sense they will not understand your words, for they seem to but understand pain and death only.

Do not confuse arrogance with assuredness and preparedness. To you the Force may be an illusion as you are not one with it; to us, however, it is real, tangible, and powerful. Yes, it is true Jedi can die, so do all living beings. You may now hold a light saber of a fallen Jedi, and I would say to treasure it now, for someday someone may come to collect it.

I'll have to figure that part out then. I understand the military way, especially having been in the military, so I tend to take by force. I will have to try the other ways. How many constructors does it take to make one of these starbases?
