Terl
Stardock Central is here: http://www.galciv.com/download.asp It is a great program. It will download the patches and the free add on pack. I would recommend you get that also.
according to terl he is a jedi padawn, yet you call him a master
Yet even a master, is but a greater one's student... ;) There is no error or conflict for it is based on one's point of view. [Message Edited]
Terl just right click on the ship and will give you a series of options that will allow you to set your ships to auto-attack, but for that button to work you has to be at war with one of the AI's.
Cool! I am usually at war with at least one of them (I try to keep it to one at a time anyway), at least later in the game :p
Thanks Megatron. This will help a great deal.
set to auto-attack
"And how does one do this Master", asks Padawan Terl. I micro everything. I send ships out and then just go to where I sent them and move them again. Tedious, but it works. Help me to use the force better :) My references to the tech tree were in regards to the culture modules. I had not seen them show up, so I assumed I had not researched the right techs...
A good strategist don't even need to built Excalibur ships
In the few games I've played the highest ship I've had is the battleship and I've fared very well. In the last two, I just forgot to turn off the cultural victory. But, then again, I won...as the game says "Praise Emperor Terl" :D
Terl, your barking up the wrong tree. I wouldn't press your luck.
Hoping we are all having fun here.... I'm roleplaying while yours seems, well, more ominous :)
Theoden: Thanks! I kept looking at all the buttons under the mini-map. I will try it tonight when I start a new game (after fixing the up resolution stuff and the tech fix). Dark Lord Assassin:
We will meet again.
True enough, but do come prepared ;) :D
Yes they are the most powerful moduls (+50% and +100% Influence), very useful for cultural and pseudomilitaristic victorys.
Ah then, I could have used these last night! I learned a lot during the last game about the economics end. I also made it much further up the tech tree this game. I will have to check into these further. We thank the mighty Halutians for their advice and Theoden as well.
Culture Palaces or Party Palaces
Are these starbase modules then? I guess I have not gotten far enough along on the tech tree to see them yet. I started a culture starbase (or what I thought was one) last night and kept adding every cultural thing I could to it. Is there a way to see the influence you have on a given sector?
I had to settle for the stupid cultural victory again. I had started that game before you reminded me about turning it off. I will begin another assault this evening :) I am going for normal this time. I will first apply the fixes discussed to the techs and then delete those 2 up tech trades (saving all in a nice safe place) before I start. I experimented a bit in the last game and really had the economy cranking. I had next to nothing for a military until over half way through the
My forces wrapped up a skirmish in our sector yesterday. We are slowly regaining our space!
Welcome Jinksy! I feel the same way about the game. I have quite a few late nights myself :) The Jedi Republic is open also. Check here: http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 Here's to many more late nights! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: [Message Edited]
Terl knew they were on to him. He had infiltrated the Evil Empire to assess their technology levels. Terl had satisfactorily painted a picture in their minds of his evilness and he was welcomed into their worlds. He sensed however, through the force, that the leaders were becoming suspicious of him. When they came for him he used his Jedi mind tricks to have the assassins believe that a nearby guard was in fact Terl. Terl made his way stealthily back to his ship and was taking off into the
Bwahahahaha!!!! You only think in your minds that I was executed! The ways of the force are many and deception is a well honed skill! Yes you saw Terl fall, but it was not I, nay, it was but one of your guards you thought was me! Bwahaha....
I just tested it again. Press the Purchse button on the left side of the main galciv screen (the one in the menu list on the left. Scroll when the page loads and the cd version is listed. Press buy and it goes to the next screens. It seems to work now.
Thank you!! I am at work so I could not look at the files and so I was trying to get an idea of what I would see before I get home. Will this mess up the game I am playing right now? Should I finish it first? I am nowhere near these things on the tech tree anyway right now as it is still early in the game.
Dark Lord Assassin: If you begin the hunt, you should remember, I know of your ways ;) You speak well when you say I am a traitor in your eyes, but 'tis worse to be untrue or traitorous to the Force that wills us all; the Force would will even you, were you to open your mind and heart to it and feel its beckoning :)
Nice seeing you back Terl.
One can only fight the force for so long ;)
Terl sat deep in thought. Intergalactic Mining had fired him, they had denied his unemployment benefits, and he was quite hungry. The Torian slaves had all fled and he had but his ship. Feeling quite the mercenary (and hungry, as noted), he comes back to the Jedi seeking a home and training in the ways of the Force.... [Message Edited]
Whats the JEDI REPUBLIC all about?
You can join empires within the metaverse. There are many of them, the Jedi Republic being one of them. If you click on the person's name in the thread, their profile opens up and you can check out the empire from there. Or, you can click on metaverse and then top empires and click on different ones. You can even create your own empire. Also, are you using Stardock Central, a program you download from Stardock, to update and
Before I try, what does this file look like? Would I open it in notepad? Just want to be sure of the mechanics first, I printed the top bit of what to change. Thanks.
Try going through the Stardock store. That is how I finally got past the errors. Look up GalCiv and the expansion is on that page. I just tried the links again and they seem to work now. [Message Edited]
Thank you, thank you! I downloaded as soon as I got home from work (even left early ;) ).
