Sorry guys. I am being evil and branching back out on my own. I decided I really don't want to play just evil or just good, but whatever I feel like at the time. I hope I can maintain close ties with the Evil Empire though.

You can have spies in defense in MOO3, just leave them assigned as internal security. It is just a tedious exercise in gaming. Will the Viceroy build what I say are priorities or will he not? Just silly and annoying.
To all those morbidly and otherwise curious... do not waste your time/money!! Even though I paid $5 and got the strategy guide thrown in with it, it was a very bad investment. It sits unplayed and will remain as such, especially after I got GalCiv. There are many, many gripes about it which you can find on the atari forums and all well founded BTW.
Of course I would have known that had I checked my email first. Oh well. Can hardly wait to get home and start another game :) Gotta clear out another foot of snow that fell last night and finished today :(

Lord Megatron: Did you get the picture I sent? The depth of Stars! was and still is very great. The graphics are virtually nonexistent though. They were trying to update the game but the whole project is stalled, has been, and is probably going to die in the long run.

I bought MOO3 too. Not horrible but quite tedious at best. It does play better with the 1.2.5 patch but still not the way one would want. In fact a lot of posts on their forums point people to GalCiv. I have not run into some of the bugs. I do have the UP proposition thing where you get the same stuff over and over. Big deal. They will fix it :) It is wonderful to find a company that backs their product and continues to support it and improve it. I waited to buy

Which is what I did. I can add a better sound card or video card if I want, the slots are there. They work great. I think they get unfairly bashed at times. They are great for an average user like me. A high end gamer may need more but that's not me. [Message Edited]
I play Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, Civ2 and 3, Alpha Centauri,MOO3, and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds (uses the Age of Kings engine). I also enjoy the oldies of Space Empires 3 and Stars!. Right now I am set on GalCiv primarily. I had thought of having my son help build one for me but when I would price everything out (I had to get it all, case, board, everything) it was cheaper to get the Dell and play with it later. Sure they have on board sound and video but they work fine
As long as I can play GalCiv I am fine ;) I don't need superb sound (I get yelled at :D for it anyway "turn it down, don't you get sick of hearing that music?") and GalCiv is about the heaviest requirement game I have so the video card is just fine. I mostly play TBS/RTS and my favorites all play just fine. I started in computer gaming with nothing more than a computer speaker years ago for sound, so believe me, I am quite happy! For what I do it is just fine. This is the second dell I have bought and they run/work fine. Anyway, I really am not sure how to put one together for myself. I would not even know how to get the right motherboard, processor, and all the what nots that go with it. Sure, I can change/add cards and swap drives and such but boards and jumpers... don't know enough to start with all the pieces.... :notsure:

I don't bother with building them. They are too cheap right now. I just bought a dell through their overstock/refurb center. If you are patient you can nab really good deals. I have been playing on medium galaxy with the ai's set to beginner and then for the second I bumped up 2 of them to sub-normal. My problem is forgetting to tweak the sliders. I jumped out grabbed a lot of systems and then fortified my systems some. I then mined a couple of resource areas. I had very good luck with $9.95 juno. I would check it out if I were you. I always got a good connect speed and rarely was it ever down. Don't bother with their "high speed" version as it is only a caching program anyway and not worth the extra $5. Also, search around your area. My first son was 10 pounds. My well, ex now, had more anesthetics than you could count. As for four times, it was three of my own, then my daughter in law with my grandaughter.
