The green rock (I call it a Space Cabbage) ALWAYS has a Space Shark, at least in my games. "Bait and switch" is the best early-game strategy.

Those are two random events that might happen during a game. But in most games you won't see either.
Using colony ships to get those morality-shifting opportunities will work with planets as small as size 10.
I remember someone once posted this tactic before. It's handy for ensuring that you have enough nearby planets to settle. (I like to have at least 7.) It also helps to know where the minors are - it's a huge benefit to find them in the early game, so you can tech trade with them.
NEVER USE YOUR INITIAL 1000 BC TO RUSH-BUILD ANYTHING! You can make an exception if production takes you within a hair of finishing up that improvement. Spending 8bc on that Soil Enricher won't kill you. You need that money to be able to do you initial building and research. You don't necessarily have to bring your cash reserves into positive numbers to do well. You just have to make enough income to build and research stuff in a timely manner. Don't buy freighters - trade for
I got an email from Stardock about that issue. Just submitted 11 weeks worth of games (nine of 'em), and will probably finish up the tenth one this morning. I'd been trying to submit since May 12, sent my original complaint in early June. Ever so steadily climbing back to the ranking I had late last year...
It's not fixed. Go ahead and save the games - I've got six of 'em at this time, in hopes they fix the problem soon.
Ditto. I've got five 60K games ready to submit.
Just sent the following email to [email protected]. Hope it gets results. -------------------------------------------------- At some time between May 5 and May 12, GalCiv 1 stopped accepting submissions to the Metaverse. Those are the dates of my last successful submission and my first unsuccessful one, respectively. Everybody is having this problem and not just me. Refer to this message thread: http://www.galciv1.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=205103 The prob
Could somebody please fix the technical issues? I've been trying to submit daily for a couple of weeks or so now.
I've been trying to submit a game for several days. Pretty soon I'll have two games to submit. Could someone fix the server, please?
I ended the game one month early - I was wondering about that score... So submitting a game 140 days after the previous submit causes 20% aging...okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Why did my Metaverse score drop by 200,000 points?
Ah yes, now I remember - been so long since I used Stardock.
How do I find the 1.52 upgrade?
I'm playing version 1.51. I always finish one game before starting another, and I don't load previously played games. Is there any way I submit these two perfectly legal games? I really hate to see two weeks of gameplaying go to waste.
How do I tell which version I have? I played a scenario using a custom map once. After that game, I started a new game the normal way, without ever having gone thru map editor or flagging scenarios or doing other stuff that makes games metaverse-incorrect. I got the scenario message when I submiytted it. Then I started another new game, hoping that one bug was a fluke that woudl self-correct. It didn't, the bug is still there. GalCiv seems to have permamently decided that any g
I have completed TWO GAMES using the standard rules that Metaverse normally accepts. But when I submit them, the game tells me I'm playing a custom map or scenario, when that is not the case. Somebody please help me out here. I am very unhappy.
I tried to submit my most recent game to the Metaverse, but I got a message saying that the game was an "unauthorized map or scenario." I played a previous game using the map editor, but this one is Metaverse legit.
1. Trade with the major civs for a number of freighters equalling the number of trade-route-increasing techs you plan to research. 2. Research/trade for Battleship tech, Antimatter, Advanced Engineering, and (if you have the Omega Pack) Galactic Phenomenon Theory. 3. Start building builder ships out the wazoo. 4. Aim them at a minor civ's star system, preferably one that is in a faily straight line from Sol. 5. Once you've researched all those techs mentioned
That should read "In the game I submitted *today*"
One advantage I've found with the Tolot Pack is that useful trade with the minors lasts longer. It used to be that once they get Dreadnaught tech (usually that means one researches it, I trade for it and give it to the other minors) they don't have anything to trade anymore. Now I see them researching those funky research-boosting techs like Astralplain Theory. In the game I submitted, I saw one research Avatar before any of the majors! :CONGRAT: (The fact that I gave him a slightly-bui
I'll tweak the file on my system to make sure it's +1 and not +10. Although nine starbases in the home sector with that module could do wonders for my freighter rush. :HOT:
The game is giving me a +10 boost, though. Here's a screen shot. http://users3.ev1.net/~alankh/GalCivScreen.jpg
You have the Graviton Projector and Anti Graviton Projector set to boost ship speed/slow enemy ship speed (respectively) by 10 and not by 1. //------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name "Graviton Projector" Model "Starbase01" Tech_Requirement "GalacticPhenomenonTheory" Module_Requirement "" Description "A Projector generating Graviton particles in the wake of our
