As I rode into the office this morning I was mildly amused by a JB&B parody of "The Honeymooners". I then sat at my desk, drinking coffee from my "Nip it in the bud" mug, and contemplated the caliber of Side Kicks offered by entertainment over the years. This includes those characters who were either comic relief, supporting cast, or recurring cameos....

I shouldn't comment, particularly with the overall tone of discussion being rather balanced and both spectrums of the topic well represented, BUT, I feel compelled to toss out my opinion, or at least my observations. In my little corner of the world the vast majority of single parents are; A. Young, under-educated, minority women B. Socio-economically disadvantaged C. 2nd generation receiving government assistance D. Have

What is the purpose of wearing clothes 5 sizes too big? Not only that but unlaced boots, tee shirts that hang below the knees, and jackets that resemble sleeping bags? As a child, I recall my mother buying school clothes that may have been a little large, this in order to compensate for growth, but what I have seen as of late is beyond thrift, it's a

Technology has improved the final production to meet your criteria for improvement, if present day editing, computerized enhancment, and special effects were as they are today in the era of "golden films" you would cite the very films you deride as beyond reproach. As for TV and Sci-Fi, the drivel that is produced now to fill in spots between commercials, seems to be nothing more than recycled, revamped, and disguised reruns. A fresh, new

Just a few more to add to your list; John Bellushi and Chris Farley, gone the way of Marilyn Monroe, in far less glamorous packaging. Accomplished Drug Stars Jimmy Hendrix, Mama Cass, Janis Joplin, Curt Cobane, and just today, Hunter S Thompson. Let us all hope that their examples are continued so as to point the way of true success, or is that excess??? True Irony is that Areosmith,The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffett

Only 341 boxes? My poor wife volunteered to be the troop "cookie mom", which entailed dispensing all of the cookies for our daughters group of girl scouts. The 12 girls sold almost 3000 boxes of cookies, my 10 year old daughter took on the challenge of selling 500 !!! All of those cookies have passed thru my truck, my dining room, and my aching back - that's 250 cases of cookies.....we have set up at Wal-Mart on weekends, Flea markets, th

I must have something to do instead of constantly playing Spider Solitaire, it's an addiction, and terribly unproductive. So here is my recipe for one of my favorite party foods; FLAMING ROOSTERS Preparation requires the following equipment; Propane burner - fish cooker or turkey fryer 60 qt aluminum stock pot w/ steam basket Heavy

drmiler, Thanks for a post that hilights the attack on scouting, I too have a post reflecting the values of scouting, and like your post it seemed to have become a forum for support of seperation church FROM state rather than a separation of church and state. Scouting will survive this assault, as America returns to the values that scouting never left, those that disagree will not go quietly into the night tho........................

Brad, Remarkably well said. I'm sure there are many in the DNC who would love to implement just such a plan as you have outlined but their vocal minority within the party have hijacked the platform. They have become the party of desent, the party of resent, and the party of discontent. Your ideas may well be better served by a nonexistent 3rd party, as the polar differences become more and more enabled in our present 2 party syste

Sanctimonious as it may sound, how can anyone sincerely attack the objectives of Scouting. The organization has been instrumental in building character and citizenship in young men for well over 70 years, young men who have grown to be anything from Presidents and Astronauts, to civic leaders and business owners. In Scouting, many young men experience their first opportunity in a leadership role, or a merit badge introduces them to th

Scouting meets the criteria to be considered a "Faith based initiative", and should be accorded the same rights as other organizations so designated. Why is it though, that a minority of citizenry who have adopted social mores that are at odds with the morals of Scouting, which are accepted by the vast majority of the population, bent on the restriction, if not destruction of this youth service program? Scouting in no way attacks the
