The On-Star sattelite "motorist assistance" system is more than a helpful voice in the event of an emergency. Did you know they can track where you are, and where you have been, and how long it took you to get there ? Law enforcement can now trace your movements by On-Star with a warrant. General Motors hails On-Star as great for the stranded motorist as well, call for help, keys locked i

You know, way back in time, up to about the 3rd or 4th century, envading armies tend to kill every male, and rape every female. Seemed it would quash all those ethnic population problems, Who says assimilation and matriculation is all bad.............:-)

Jeb, Overworked ? Granted their mission is a noble one, but if their management focused on the problems instead of perpetuating the Department............. Oh yes, they are overworked, filing forms, learning new regulations, new qualifications......... Nothing personal, but I've always considered a Social Worker a professional meddler.....:)

Wisefawn, You need to look at the loopholes, these women are attending "community college", or at least registering ( and receiving Pell Grant monies ), as long as they are "training" for work they stay in the system. One of my renters has "nearly" completed certification or degrees for Cosmotology, Daycare mgt, Nurses Aide, Criminal Justice, and Paralegal. She's smart in many ways, because as long as she's enrolled, and keeps changing fie

I confess. I am guilty. I came to create this blog for an outlet, to think out loud, to comment on my daily life, but then I saw my points were low, and my readership as well, so I fell into the instigation syndrone, prompting an overall stimulating debate, however it's just not really my style. I emulated, if not, imitated, the style of several great bloggers here at JU, Oh my facts and representations are true,

I ain't touchin' this subject with a 10 foot pole, I'm just going to put my rose colored glasses on, adjust my mule blinders, and cruise on down that yellow brick road, lalalalala... :-)

Now Macy, I capitalize in a capitalistic society, I recognize a need, provide a service with extreme competition, and succeed in my market. THAT IS WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT !!!!!! If you read my old post you will see that I have had my ups and downs, I just refused to give up, because the system this country provides has given me the opportunity to fail and succeed. All you have to do is TRY !!! My recent post o

Nice quote Geek. Those bystanders are now classified as "collateral damage" by Army war college standards. Brad, I concur, I only wonder how soon the Iraqi's will produce a car to compete with Toyota or BMW ? :-) Seriously, when given the opportunity to finish what we started, the US is like a good boyscout, We always leave the place better than we found it. ( for those detractors - I said when we finish, not when we qu

LM, It is the beauracrats job to perpetuate the system, be it by guilt, or rationalization, the "poor" are nothing more than a means to their end. Jeb, Certainly you are right concerning most MD's, but then they would turn to a cosmetic practice. But you know, iradicating all disease is a more attainable target than eliminating "poverty". Brad, I mirror your tax and investment obligations ( at least in general p

Hey stumpman, Thanks for the validation, I'm sure others ( as noted in more than a few comments ) see the same in their neck of the woods. As for those that are presently blind to the situation, perhaps they may take a closer look around, next time they ride thru "that part of town".

I know exactly how you feel. If so inclined check out my post " Subtle hints of aging", it'll list a few more things to look forward to. Oh yeah, Beano, and lay off the cabbage. :-)

The rule is the rule, you did your job. Paining over the implications of your discovery do nothing but bring unnessesary guilt upon you. I would assume that if you did not report the offense and it was discovered by a peer, YOU would be the one facing dismissal. Legally, ethically, and morally, you did what you had to do. Now if more people would do the same.............................

Paula, That's just it, if your suggestions were followed IT WOULD be an end to the cycle. What Social worker in their right mind would suggest a program that would put her organization out of business? NOBODY wants the cycle to end. At least not me, and everyone at the Department of Social Services, the Dept of Health and Human Services, the Dept of Education, Dept of Housing and Urban Dev., or ( fill in the blank

The only problem I have experienced since my return delt with accessing from watchlist e-mail. When I enter via the link on e-mail I initially open onto the comments, but then automatically I am sent to that blogs home, sometimes having to scroll through more recent articles to find the one I was e-mail about in the beginning, I have tried the back key, but that returns to my e-mail. It's a quirk, but no biggie........... Thanks for the

From the comments on my last post I have concluded that poverty ( as defined by governmental agencies ) is nothing more than job security for the thousands of human services organizations that exist to prolong the situation, not solve it. If they solved the problems they wouldn't have a purpose. It is why our schools are inadiquate. To continue the cycle. It's why entitlement programs promote unwed mothers. To produce another gene
