LT, don't forget to log your game to the Metaverse. Simply be online at the end of your game, and your score will then be posted here. If you still have your save game files complete, go to the one that says "endgamesave" and load it. All you need to do is hit the end turn button, watch the movie (orclick through it), and then hit done on the summary screen. Next you'll see the Metaverse page. Make sure your player name and correct e-mail (the one you gave when you registered Ladyterry) are
And don't forget that if ands when you can't submit a game in any 30 day block that your scores WILL suffer the consequences for 2900 days.. till the empty block is at the end of the aging period.. speaking from experience here..
JT, is that 2900 a typo?

There are lots of strategies posted in the Strategies Forum (button on the left Nav-Bar). In addition most empires have their own strategy threads. I encourage you to join an empire as it will enhance your enjoyment of the game, and you'll also enjoy the camraderie. To check out the various empires, visit the Empire button of the left Nav-Bar. And yes, we're all impressed with Tech's submission rate.

Either way will work. The expansion plays exactly the same, just adds a couple of new races, and also adds a mission based version of play. I would reccommend you upgrade at some point, but it is not VITAL to do so now. -Chip- EDIT: I would be remiss if I failed to mention updates etc. available through Stardock Central for both Galciv and AP. I don't believe there is a graphics update with AP, but I can't be certain of that. [Message Edited]

JTar, glad you enjoy the game. Trust me when I tell you that you'll enjoy it alot more if you join an empire. As suggested above, use the empire tab on the left nav-bar to access the empire thread. You don't have to be a member of an empire to read the respective threads. I encourage you to scan some of the empire threads, as it will give you an idea of what each empire (and their members) are like. My biggest regret is not joining an empire sooner. Have fun, and as LW

Think of a terror star as a death star (I'm sure George Lucas has a trademark on that name!). The big difference is the terror star destroys the entire system, not just one planet. You may see in strategy posts the term "TS AS". This is a Terror Star Alpha Strike. An alpha strike is basically a sneak attack on a massive scale. Example: Playing against 5 opponents (5 Major races, you don't need to eliminate the minors). I have 35,000K in my treasury and 7 stacks/fleets

Keep playing, all the advice in the world can only show you how to adapt the various functions of the game to your playing style. If you still get stuck, and are at your wits end, don't shelve the game!!! As you can see, there are a lot of "vet's" that are only too happy to help you figure it out. Once you get comfortable with the community (and to enhance your fun of the forums and the game itself) check out the empire tab on the left of the forum page. Joining an empire is something I wish

There has been some great advice given here, I'll only emphasize the importance of the spending sliders. When I first learned that I could move these babies, I soon discovered that I could produce things much quicker (whether ships, improvements, or techs). However, I soon saw myself going bankrupt really quickly. There is a delicate dance you'll learn to use in order to balance spending and growth of economy in the first 20 to 40 turns. Also, in reference to the diplomatic screen (the one w

If you are "control-N"ing your start, I would reccommend focusing ONLY on starting in the middle of the map. In this way, half of the AI will find you before you even have sent all your freighters out. I play AP v(I think it's 1.51) and get a 60 minute, 60k, Gig/maso/rare/tight. The tricky part of the strategy is to LIMIT your expansion to between 3 and 5 colonies. I play Research Inc., (See library tab above for Mod downloads) and the important thing is to quickly shift from the exp

When playing for a military win, I always hope to see the fundies appear. And I agree that trading with them is a wonderful option to trading with the Majors. After taking over so many planets, I really do consider them a major. (Just glad I don't have to eliminate them to achieve military victory conditions.)

With Grunts like this... no wonder your at the top of the empire list... Tell me Where did you get them... I'd like to order a few
Actually the post says "Do Not Read unless you a Galactic Guardian" It was this that I was responding to. ;) [Message Edited]

I enjoyed the story based theme of the missions, and I thought that OVERALL you guys did a great job with each of the missions. (My own preferences will differ from others, but again, OVERALL ya'all did a good job). In response to your question however, I would like to see some variety in the map size for individual missions. Meaning from Tiny to Gigantic. This will give first time gamers a yet further introduction to the ways to vary the game. (I really liked the w

Bnics, and Raven as well, be careful building the high cost improvements (VR center). It has a maintenance cost of 5BC per month. I find that I only need to build it on my lowest PQ planets, and even then only late in the game. Another good strategy for keeping your morale high is to lower your tax rate. Be careful doing this because, of course, it lowers your overall income. You want to always strive to keep that number above zero. In the early game I try to stay as clos

If you are having a hard time, lower the difficulty level that you start the game with. When you begin the game don't be afraid to play with the spending sliders on the domestic screen. Before I even move a ship, I put my military to 100%, my spending to 100%, and have Earth make colony ships. This usually spits out colony ships every 3 turns (it says two months). You will have a much better chance in the inital planet grabbing rush in the beginning. WATCH OUT THOUGH!!! leaving your spendi

As I said, I am a newbie. I have played only three games thus far (two posted), and have had each game take me a couple of weeks to complete, i've played huge on the last two games, and cannot fathom a game ending in less turns than it takes to get freighters to their destinations. I guess that just shows how far behind I am in the learning curve. Thank you for the input Sirius (and HTL and Maxti), I credit your posts in this forum for my sucess, limited as it may be, thus far. I assume you w

Sorry, hit the wrong button i guess... Anyways, after my fifth or sixth route was established, my treasury started to balloon. Since this was the first time I had tried to adjust my spending sliders, i must confess that this may also have had something to do with it, but eventually, my trade income per turn was around 7K or 8K, enough that I soon had 160K in my treasury!!! I then set my tax to below 20%, my spending to 100%, cranked up the military slider, and built my first EVER (dar

I'm a newbie, so for all you vet's this may evoke a "duh" response. However, I would like to thank you all for your great tips, and to thank stardock for this wonderful site/forum. I just experienced my first CTD, it happened on version 1.2, but I upped my difficulty level and used all the tactics described by the "BIGS" (see GC Strategies button on the left noob's), and tries something that has yet to be mentioned in the many posts i've seen. Because exploiting all my trade routes at
