You are right in your assumptions. The military resources give you a bonus to your ships hp/att/def, and the research resources give a bonus to your research abilities (less time to research the tech's). Something to notice is that the shape and color of each resouce will ALWAYS signify which type of resource it is. Red cones = Military bonus Blue cubes = Cultural bonus Green spheres = Economic bonus Yellow cyliners = Morale bonus Purple Pyramids = Research b

For some reason, today the MV liked the game and accepted it... (TYVM)! :CONGRAT:
Thanks guys, I appreciate your timely responses. :)
I know I have seen several posts of late regarding problems with metaverse submissions and whether they are recorded or not. I currently have an endgamesave that I tried 3 times to submit tonight that has neither registered in points or in number of games submitted. I bring this up because I remember the old submission message I used to get that, although cryptic, at least told me whether the game was accepted or not. Is it possible that the game is just "lost" somewhere? I
The one I noticed was Greldon, he just took a huge hit. Still on page one though.
Excellent tip PJ_, glad you're here... :CONGRAT:
I like to create huge fleets (100 or more ships) and send them as a single fleet (One click) to the target destination, then stop one tile away from where I want to attack and then diband the fleet by moving the non-combatants out of the fleet and either attacking or invading with 2 fleets. One fleet of transports/combat transports, and one fleet of warships. This technique has saved me tons of time when invading.
Yeah FC, I don't know if that would qualify as most impressive, most tedious, or most Masochistic!!! LOL LOL LOL ;)
You can ally with them, however you must first get them to "Close" in relations. This is done by giving them things for free. If your aim is to go for an alliance win, you can give them something like 200BC for 50 turns and that will usually do the trick. (This works for me at Masochistic level, I would imagine the amount would be less at a lower level). Once they have moved relations to "Close" with you, you will see the alliance option appear in the middle of the left column. You may have
I've never seen that event happen to any world I already have. I think it reads, "Alien archeologists...", the operative word being ALIEN (Not of your own). If you go long enough into the game, you are sure to "aquire" this world though! ;) LOL LOL LOL
And it also has the bad effect of immediately having a high population on a world with no morale improvements. To each his own though. If you are having fun and not struggling with this tactic, keep on going. As many a wise person has said, "Rule #1, have fun!" :HOT:
I will occasionally use them just to extend range, but as PB said, yes to all of the above.
I think the four options are... Alien technology Victory Technology Victory Alliance Victory Cultural Victory Look to the left of the galxy settings area. Hope this helps.
Look on the page where you choose the party you want to use. In the bottom middle is a group of four victory conditions. If they are all highlighted, they are all in effect. Simply click on one to turn it on/off.
WTG Astorax!!! Click on my name here and see the score I got on my first submission. ;p You turned out a great game. I'm assuming you approve of the product?!? ;)
Great job Newfy, and perfect timing as TGNN seems to be on hiatus. Can we look forward to future installments? :)
ED brought up an interesting point. When you take over a planet (or one defects to you), make sure you check the things they are building AND, more importantly, click on the details tab to see what's already been built on that planet. Scan the list of things already built on the planet, the number in parenthesis is the cost in BC per month to maintain this improvement. You can select the items you want to remove (such as the high cost things that you don't "need"). This will help you more ef
Because I am forced to start at Neutral morality, I choose to set all AI at Neutral morality. I have never had a drop in score because of this, although I frequently have too few morality shifting events to get me to my desired "Pure Good" status by January of 2190. (And no, I have no plans to install the saints/sinners pack or any other morality shifting mods). [Message Edited]
Or the insatiable desire to THRASH the Yor!!!! :SURPRISED:
At the beginning of the game, I usually put 150 on my colony ships. This is a good balance between keeping as many as possible on earth (so I don't lower production), and not putting too many in a brand new colony.
'Tis true, many a night I have sacrificed the odd hour or two from my normally scheduled sleep to get that "extra turn", or while having fun posting in the "Core".
There are several things to discuss here... 1. Do you have an opposite morality then the allied races do? Without regular bribes of a couple techs when they slip below "friendly" in relations, it is only a matter of time until they feel badly enough about you to go to war. 2. How many races are left in the game? If it's just you three, your in trouble as you'll have noone to come to your aid. Again, it's important to keep the other civ's "friendly" with you. 3. Sometimes stran
IIRC, the change is done through Stardock Central's registration page. PassingBye (PB) or Peace Phoenix (PP) will be able to confirm that. Basically you're just registering that game and in the process it changes your whole players info over to that new registration. If you don't do it, like I did, when you submit nothing happens in the MV. (:(
Some empires use other names for overlords and senators within their websites and forums. For example, the Guardians call their senators by the title Knights.
Thank you Moser for correcting me. Astorax, Moser is right...Overlords (the column on the left) are the peeps who belong to the empire, the column on the right has the Knights, Senators, etc. My turn for the dunce cap fellow Guardians! LOL :D LOL
I have actually thought about the bribe order at the end, and have always gone from strongest to weakest in military. Lately I've been thinking of trying it the other way. Thanks for the tip, it confirms what I was thinking about bribing less for all the techs at the end.
