Ususally it seems the first tier guy or girl is more than happy to pass you on to the next level, once you pull out one or two technical terms (of the many thousands they are ignorant of...) then you're much more likely to get some real support. If there's no beep from the motherboard, and you can't boot from external media, you can be pretty sure your mobo has died on you. Have you tried unplugging the hard drive and booting from CD or DVD? You could also try replacing the CMOS battery, but it's probably a long shot.

The articles on CNet and ZD.net say that Level3 gave 90 days notice that they intended to sever their peering agreement with Cogent. Sounds to me like neither side wants to play nice, and the end consumers (those of us doling out $45-$50 per month for RR)are the ones getting the short end of the stick. I did a search for "Desktop Customization software" on Download dot com. I liked what I read about DesktopX, so I purchased that, I think there was some kind of special bundling it with CursorXP. It only took an hour or two before I bought an upgrade to the whole OD suite. Definitely one of the best purchases I've made.
Hang in there, Nicked Blade. I used the patches when I quit years ago. I was always rubbing that patch to try and get the nicotine out faster. I don't think the rubbing helped, but the patches at least took the edge off enough that I could keep from lighting up.
I've been a ODNT subscriber for almost two years, and even subscribed to WC because I wanted to support the site. I like the community, and I do download quite a bit. I plan to continue both subscriptions. However, I don't really see much benefit to a WC subscription in addition to ODNT.
