So far I have only been on the clinic portion, working in community health clinics and such. Next week I begin the Labor and Delivery portion, and then I surely will get to play catch. I am really looking forward to it.

I mentioned it a few articles ago, but I am now working hard on my OB/Gyn rotation. I was really not looking forward to it, nor did I think I was going to have a good time. I tried to go into it with a good attitude though, and found a pleasant surprise. I am having a great time. Sure, it takes some getting used to. But it is so much fun. Kind, g

Wow, I really wish I could go to the Rush show in Charlotte at the end of this month. I just don't think it is going to happen. Medical school sucks sometimes. I have had the blessed opportunity to see Rush live a couple times and they are truly wonderful. Full of energy, fantastic musicians, and just great guys. Alex Lifeson is a real riot live, his sense of humor is just zany and great. Enjoy it, live rock music just doesn't get any better.</fo

I think Jasmine, while certainly with some well earned fans, also picked up a lot of pity votes due to Simon's verbal lashing and the shots of her crying. Could be wrong, but I don't think there is any way she deserved to be in the top two. I could have even seen her in the bottom two and staying, but in the top two? Shame to lose Latoya, as I think she definately has the best voice out of the four. Diana will be getting my vote from now on for sur

While your points stayed the same, don't you think that someone with a higher rank than you might have lost some to time, trolling, etc? Seems the most likely explanation to me.

Great article brackenfish. I have been feeling the same way for a while now. In fact I wrote a blog about it here. I just pretty much feel alienated by both parties now. There just doesn't seem to be much room in the current political climate for morally conservative, somewhat liberally minded (when it comes to policy and such) people like me. And so I had to change my voter registration from "Republican" to "Unaffiliated".

Good points Shulamite. Far too often people (poorly) use sarcasm in their written work, especially online. It does translate, but only by those who are especially adept at weilding it, and there are far too many who attempt and fail. And, as you pionted out, this often leads to embarassment and/or hurt feelings. And, of course, there are times when people, in the heat of the moment, type somethi

Wow, that article really hit me. Hard. With 2 daughters, the oldest of which is an already very emotional 5 year old (okay, next week she will be 5) it really helps me to hear from others that, despite the yelling, and anger, they can still love us. I think I needed to hear that today. Thanks for sharing.

Great recap. I have never really been a fan of Jasmine. But she does come across as very nice, so I don't dislike her, I just don't like her. And I think she really needs to go, tonight wasn't great for her. I agree that LaToya has the strongest voice, but watching her perform, I just sort of think "Meh, okay". I do think she needs to stay on though. Fantasia, while good at working the crowd, is getting old. I don't really like her voice

I have posted it before when the subject was suicide, and I will post it again. Rush-"The Pass" Lyrics by Neil Peart Proud swagger out of the school yard Waiting for the world's applause Rebel without a conscience Martyr without a cause Static on your frequency Electrical storm in your veins Raging at unreachable glory Straining at invisible chains And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge

That is an excellent distinction. I had a patient I was working with at one of the state mental hospitals, and we originally thought the diagnosis was bipolar II (the patient was never truly manic, but had a long history that sounded hypomanic). However, as time went on it became more and more obvious that we were actually seeing a lot of BPSD, as the patient's thoughts were clearly preceding the actions and affect, as you so el

I am a little out of the loop, and was not aware of this project. But now that I am I am truly disappointed. This really sounds like it had the potential to be very, very cool. Thanks for the heads up!

I have recently been discussing this issue with a number of others, and I am appalled at the volume of gamers who think this is acceptable behavior. They openly admit that copy protection doesn't deter anything more than the most casual of piracy, inconveniences (in the least) the honest consumer, often to the point of rendering the software unusable, yet still insist it is a "necessary evil". Even a number of game developers seem to think that way.

I elected a screen name for myself when I was registering my copy of Galactic Civilizations and setting up my Stardock account. It was only after a while visiting Wincustomize.com that I realized my Stardock account had already reserved this blog for me. So my screen name originated as a simple login for my Stardock account and was never intended initially for public scrutiny. Now, however, I really could not care less.

Hah, gothic! Great quote. I agree with you. I was just stating how Disney possibly sees things, trying to sit on as many fences as possible to please as many people as possible and generate as much revenue as possible. Just as an aside, I am not a big fan of Disney (Eisner especially) so I am not trying to defend or vilify.

First off jimbo, get a clue. You neither know me nor my political stances (as I have never commented on them here), so acting as though you do is ludicrous, childish, and just plain stupid of you. That sort of brazen assumption in and of itself invalidates your comments in my eyes. It shows you have a penchant for talking before you really think. Second, people, Michael Moore himself has said he doesn't really make documentaries, but that h

You guys sure have. I have said it before, and I will say it again. I didn't fare too well with the Gal Civ demo, but decided to purchase it anyway because I was so impressed with the level of support you guys were providing. Fortunately for me I managed to get into it and love it now. Thanks for the reply.

As some of you know I am currently in my second year of medical school at Duke. We do things a bit different here, we cram the normal two years of classes into our first so we can get on the wards and clinics in our second year, rather than waiting for our third. This carries with it numerous advantages. We have a lot more time to think on what type of residency we

Bah, we don't live in a democracy, and we never have. We live in a republic based on democratic principles. And we have always lived in a world of censored and tightly controlled media and will continue to do so. It is our responsibility to see through that by looking at what the media gives us from different angles, from different sources, with a healthy dose of common sense and intelligence. While the desire for a free media is admirable, the bel

Boy, I sure hope I can. As a med student I just don't think it would be realistic to plan on working less than 45+ hours a week. Lately I have been putting in closer to 80+ and I can attest that it isn't healthy. But after doing that for a while 60 hours a week starts to look really, really good. I mean REALLY good.

Looking at it from a business standpoint I can see where Disney is coming from. As a company that likes to try to be family friendly and straddle as many fences as possible to maximize profits, Moore just isn't really the kind of guy you want hanging around. But the simple fact of the matter is Michael Moore will continue to whore himself out to the media, putting on the victim face he wears so well, denouncing those who attempt to censor him
