both you and i are exempt from this ruling until we get ourselves back to neutral alignment.
How does the metaverse calculate the alignment over a set of games? (Just wondering if what alignment I should try to attain in my next game so I don't overshoot neutral.) ~SDC~
I don't know; gunboat diplomacy is sometimes very useful.
Of course you are right. That would not be interesting to eliminate that aspect of diplomacy. But in an empire predicated on legitimacy of diplomacy, the truly awesome weapons should be kept under lock and key. ~SDC~

I think military victories and strength are important to give your diplomats credibility. I guess I was only talking about the ability to wipe out an entire planet at a go. Perhaps the rule should be that you may build a terror star, but to use it, will require a petition to the Senate of the Diplomats on this forum? (By the way, I assume that this is really what a terror star does - this trainee-graduate has never actually finished building a terror star to check what it actually does.) <

Well, I just finished playing my third game ever, this time on challenging. Tiny galaxy because I wanted to finish quickly, but given my self-imposed rules-of-engagement, it took longer because I wanted to win another military conquest without building a single warship or even planetary defense system on any planet. But as I expected, it was very possible, as one star system after the other defected to my side. In fact, in all of the first 3 games I've played, I've never built a warship even

I had seen GalCiv on the shelves at the store but didn't bother to buy it until it became Gamespy TB game of the year. Then I thought I should try it out and got it a few days ago. Still think it is too easy (won 3 straight games with military conquest victory and no shots fired at all - the last on challenging level), but it seems to be interesting so far, and I am taking it for granted that by the time I get to masochist level, the game will be tougher. But I liked the Stard
You don't, thats not exactly what it means. Stardock does. They see all the information in all the games everyone sends in then they put the chosen improvements into a patch.
Oh. That's not how I would have interpreted "...PLAYER can allow..." :p ~SDC~

I asked this question buried in another message, so I am calling this out as a separate message: On the back of my GalCiv game box, it says: "...the player can allow the game AI to look at strategies used by the top players to make the game smarter.". Exactly how does one do this? I can't find any options in either the game itself or the metaverse to do this. I am running version 1.13.080 of GalCiv. ~SDC~

After I won my first game as beginner, I played a second game in a tiny universe at normal level of difficulty where I was a technology-focused civilization. Some observations: (1) It still seems way too easy (2) I always researched the more expensive technologies to help my technology sales, which mean that I didn't even have "Basic Repair" until almost the end of the game (3) I used a strategy where I sold all my technology all the time to the other civilizations whic

I bought galciv in the store and then I wanted to upgrade to drengin.net. I couldn't find any upgrade option and ended up paying $69, the full price of drengin.net, as if I didn't have galciv in the first place. Is this the only way to upgrade? Hardly seems fair that you don't get credit for your store-purchase... ~SDC~

I keep trying to update my retail version of GC to 1.13 with SDC, but each time it fails with exactly the same message. :( The last portion of the logfile is: Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\Base\Gfx\Stars.md_ Result: Failed (com error) Result: Failed (attempt 1) Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\Base\Gfx\Stars.md_ Result: Failed (com error) Result: Failed (attempt 2) Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\Base\
