I hard-deleted everything Stardock related from my computer. Went into the registry and deleted the Stardock keys. I then freshly installed SDC 2.0.288, Galciv, AP. Everything works now. No problems with SDC. It must have been a creeping problem from a series of incremental updates to SDC/Galciv/AP. But gone now that I returned to square one and started fresh.

I have the latest (Total Gaming) version of SDC. I was able to us it to update AP. But there is a problem when updating Galciv. The first time I tried to update Galciv, it downloaded about 20% and then there was a CTD. Now, every time I try to update Galciv, SDC immediately exits without even an error message. When I say immediately, I mean it exits in less than 1 sec. What is wrong?

You can email bugreports to [email protected]. There is also a galcivwriter v2.0.0 discussion forum on the Diplomats Empire forum at http://www.diplomats-empire.com/forum (If you sign up there, I can add you to the list of people with access to that forum.) It would be a big help if your bugreports came with screen captures. If you don't have any software to make a screen capture, check out the freeware at: http://www.webattack.com/freeware/gmm/fwscreen.shtml Tha

Can you tell me exactly where you are getting this error message and what are you doing? Did you get it on the install, or when you tried to run GalcivWriter? Was it in a popup dialog box? What version of Microsoft Windows are you running, and is it fully updated with the latest patches? Did you install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 first? If not, you should download it from Microsoft. It is available either via Windows Update, or in a standalone package as: http://download.microsoft
Couldn't you release the mod manager as a stand alone utility? That seem much more convenient to me no?
Because galcivwriter v2.0.0 can create a special "mobile" intermediate format which the mod manager can take advantage of to allow multiple conflicting mods, they are pretty wed together. However, I won't rule out a future separate mod manager. There are so many changes being planned for galciv writer that this change would probably be very low priority. But
Would you be able to add a "How to use" to the Mod manager
Yes. But detailed instructions probably won't come until the gcwriter help system is rebuilt in the next major version. Before then, I will ask for volunteers to help write. In the meantime, there is a description on how to use/test the Mod manager on the Diplomats Empire forum at http://www.diplomats-empire.com/forum in the subforum of the Help & Support forum entitled "Galciv Writer".
It actually allows you to aggregate multiple mod files of different types into a "Named Mod" which is stored in a certain archive with an XML-descriptor file.
By the way, it goes without saying that I am hoping that if this Named Mod format takes off, mod designers will ship Mods prepackaged in this format which will save users the trouble of having to aggregate multiple files together into a Named Mod. Users could just decide to install or uninstall a particular prepack
The writter is useful for CREATING mods, not using and managing them.
I think Peace Phoenix was referring to our Diplomats Edition of the Galciv Writer, as opposed to Hawaii Five-O's original v1.3.0. Galciv Writer v2.0.0-alpha11 has a full featured mod manager built into it which manages temporarily installed mods and permanently installed mods. It actually allows you to aggregate multiple mod files of different types into a "Named Mod" which is stored in a certain archi

I believe that our trusty beta testing coordinator, the 3rd child, is presently away on vacation, so I will go ahead and announce the next release of the Galciv Writer. v2.0.0-alpha7 has a bunch of additional fixes including a bug involving the mod directories. Please send email to [email protected] if you want to test this new version and give feedback/bugreports. As far as I know, there are now only 9 outstanding bugs. Still need to back up the following 4 directories
I'd have to check again. The last time I used GC Writer, it crashed trying to change techs or improvements (array bounds overflow). It should be able read the English.STR entries for Logistics just fine. I'm not certain if the attribute can be added to techs or improvements. I seem to recall that was a selection dialog on one of the two, not text entry, and might not have an entry for Logistics.
Except for the addition of the Loyalty attribute, all the changes in the updates since 1.06 or so have been transparent to GC Writer.
Arturus Magi, Can you explain in what way the Logistics attribute is not transparent to GC Writer? What could GC Writer do for the Logistics attribute that it is not already doing?
*bump*1. How is the stat about rebuilding the GalCiv Writer?2 May the crew do the good (alignmentwise) a favor and allow to create events that allow a positiv value for the good choise?I would like to add the posibility to reward good players, not only punishing them for playing good instead of evil
Can you explain how you think Galciv Writer could help you in this regard? I would think your suggestion is really not restricted by Galciv Writer, but rather by Ga
