I should have progressively moved up, but I just impulsively tried gigantic. Right now I am just trying to seed my part of the galaxy. Haven't even come across a single opponent, and I've already planted 10 colonies! :notsure: I must be behind by half the technologies by now. (:( And even though I have a 1.8GHz laptop with 512MB of memory, it really is very slow. :p ~SDC~
I'm trying a gigantic game now. It's so intimidating - the galaxy is so huge! ~SDC~
Hello everyone. I haven't really made more testing but I have netherless decided to join an empire. Guess which one ?
Welcome! :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
as we dont play maso games
:sniff!: ~SDC~
By that time, it will take a developing civ. a long time to recuperate from losing a ship of any sort
On masochist level, it seems me that it would take one turn for the other civilizations to recover, and "never" for the humans... ~SDC~
I'm undecided about what my next game should be. I've walked the levels now from normal to masochist on tiny galaxy. Obviously based on my last game, I have a lot more to learn on masochist as I scrape in by the skin of my teeth. Should I dive into the deep end of the pool with a jump to a gigantic galaxy on masochist level :SURPRISED: :( :SURPRISED: :(, or should I take more baby steps by regressing a few levels and moving up to a small galaxy? :notsure: In all of my games in a
Besides that the idea of this empire happened to be compatible with the way I've found myself naturally playing this game, one main motive I have for joining this empire is that it is different. Smaller. Trying to stand out in the crowd. Personally, I feel less like a single small fish in a large school of fish, as I might if I joined one of those top 10 empires with 100+ overlords.
I lead the space shark into the drengins
I've tried leading the shark places too, but it always ends up distracted by a trading ship. How do you do it? ~SDC~
I agree on the death star. What is the fun in building them and flying them around destroying star systems (he says... after admitting he hasn't ever finished building one...) ~SDC~
Actually, an Alliance win didn't feel very satisfying my last game - but beggars can't be choosers. ~SDC~
Having fun trying to find the time to carry on building the Diplomats site. However i will do it soon. One quick question for you Slothrop, I am thinking of adding a section to the website called 'The Senate' where you could find a section that you would fill in for a proposed senate decision (ie terror star attacks). This completed form would then be e-mailed to the empire senate for their decision (to be posted here). Do you like the sound of it?
Sounds good. Why don't
Has anyone had a game where it was harder to be evil than good? I mean, where you realized that the outcome of the game depended on your alignment, which forced you to build more colonies then you wanted just so you could get enough galactic events so that you could become good so that you wouldn't lose. (Not a case where you were trying to change your alignment by choice.)
Alliance victory is when all of the empires are joined together under an alliance (researchable). Hard to get because of allignments of you and AI
To get an alliance victory on my masochist game, I need a fifth civilization to agree, as I was already allied with the other 4 major civilizations. But even though I was already close to them, the last one didn't agree to an alliance for normal incentives (such as trading a single technology in exchange for an alliance). So
time to batten down those hatches. Here comes trouble!!
:D ~SDC~
How is the metaverse score calculated? How can I tell if my score is right? ~SDC~
Oh no! I'm fighting my first war ever! (on Masochist) Yikes! :SURPRISED: ~SDC~
If the senate is in agreement i would like to change the empire logo to the following :- Your response please.
Concur. ~SDC~
By the way... What *is* an Alliance victory? (I don't see this in the manual.) And also, from another thread, what is an "alpha strike"? (Maybe I shouldn't be asking as a diplomat! ;) ) ~SDC~
#17 by Citizen jmforhan - 1/14/2004 3:52:56 AM I am wondering: why forbidden posting of cultural victory or research victory for the Diplomats. Since I have read (maybe I have not correctly understand since english is a foreign language for me) in another thread that Death Star as moving cultural palace are allowed.I know that military wins are always allowed and that some military wins are cultural wins due to cultural flip, but I would have thought that military wins should be the exce
I see. Thanks! :) I'll submit it properly for the next one. ~SDC~
Slothrop when the submission screen comes up at the end of the winning game, change the part where it says "yournamehere" to the e-mail address you registered the game with. that is the reason your metaverse scores are incorrect.
A bit confused here. On the submission screen is a space for both "yournamehere" and also "youremailaddress". I've been filling in my name with the handle I signed up with and leaving the email address blank. I thought it was working because my
So far, most difficulty levels have been easy, at least with a tiny galaxy. I've tried one at each difficulty level from normal through crippling. Just started my first masochistic game now. Try selling all your technologies (for the purpose of keeping your opponents poor) and building lots of constructors on every planet. Works for me. (And then come join the Diplomats Empire! :) ) ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
If we allow good, shouldn't we allow evil? Even evil dictators can be halfway decent diplomats. Perhaps the diplomats should stay away from either extreme, and focus only on the middle ground between pure alignments. ~SDC~
The one thing to remember about this empire is that the scores we get playing the game are not really the main thing.
Right now, that is the furthest thing from my mind. I don't even know yet how to check the score before the end of the game, so it's always a bit of a surprise when it is all over to see what score I am awarded... ~SDC~
