~ Diplomats Grow
Hey! Our Empire has hit the big time! We made it into the Metaverse Review! LOL ~SDC~
Senator Slothrop I will e-mail you a small walkthru that can help you to understand the mechanics of the game in the lower levels
Thank you, but Prime Minister Rear Admiral Emperor Spellforce has already emailed to me your walkthrough! :D ~SDC~
Guys I will not be able to play again until Sunday I am going to an International Pastors Conference in Orlando and I will not be back home until Sunday.
Nesi'ah tovah :) ~SDC~
So what does crtl-n actually do?
After you start a game, at any point you can type cntl-N, even later in the game. Immediately, the game restarts from the beginning using the same setup you configured in at the start, but with a new random star-map. Everything you did before hitting cntl-N is gone and the game starts at the beginning. The way I use it is that I start up the game, choose the party and type of game I want, and then take a look at the star map without doi
Teaching dirty tricks is a lot of work!
Thanks KitWarrior for helping out us Newbies! :) ~SDC~
Then if the planet is still unsuitable, just eliminate that worthless planet.
I tried to launch a colony ship without any people and found it impossible. So in my last game, I was launching colony ships with a population of 1,000,000 people. But when they land on a quality 1 planet for example (and after I maybe get an event), I couldn't find any way to "disband" the new colony. How do I do that? ~SDC~
I've never fully understodo the crtl-n strategy, is that not cheating?
In my way of thinking, a walkthrough is cheating, passing on different star maps until you find an interesting one is just being "selective" LOL ~SDC~
its 2:40am here. time for sleep me thinks. work in 5 hrs
Don't remind me. The only reason I have so much "quality" playing time now is because the wife is still traveling :) [had to put that smiley in, just in case she reads this sometime later... LOL ] ~SDC~
a no got beaten to most planets no
I think next time you should Ctrl-N until you have at least the nearby star cluster in addition to the quality 20 Earth. Otherwise, one risks sitting on the quality 20 Earth, but with no colonies! :notsure: ~SDC~
Also, in my game, to fuel my technology trading, I used a technologist party, + luck + max tech + creativity + diplomacy. Only way I could get techs fast enough (even when researching into branches the computer opponents aren't interested in) for them to be worth something in trade. ~SDC~
was feeling low after getting destroyed in a maso game
Admiral Spellforce sir! A couple questions on your game: (1) Did you Ctrl-N until you had (a) a quality 20 Earth, (b) 1-2 quality 15 or better planets in the Sol system and (c) a nice nearby star cluster (assuming abundant and not rare) (2) Did you colonize fast enough, even so far as to go into debt? (Did you colonize a minimum of 6-7 star systems?) (3) Did you research only uniq
Trying my first game set on normal-- money is good, but know one likes me except the nuetrals and the minors. Perhaps I don't quite understand the minor races yet, but they seem to have bounty of stuff to give me (shrug).
Hello Senator Kazzryl! My technique for which works beautifully for all levels up to and including Crippling (at least with tiny galaxy) is to: (1) colonize fast (2) research technologies not interesting for the opponents
got a great walkthrough that works everytime on normal settings. i'll email it to you if you want!
Please! I'd be interested in seeing that! What I need now is the walkthrough on how to turn around a gigantic masochist game when you are way way behind (:( ~SDC~
I was going to ask how you had time for three games in one day :SURPRISED: I am still struggling with the same gigantic game that I started a few days ago ... :p ~SDC~
i think i deserve it
Sir, yes sir! :) ~SDC~
Yes sir Prime Minister Rear Admiral Spellforce, sir!
OOPS! I mean Yes sir Prime Minister Rear Admiral Emperor Spellforce, sir! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
Yes sir Prime Minister Rear Admiral Spellforce, sir! LOL ~SDC~
Spellforce, I think this is a good time for an Empire Update! I would do it myself, except that your ability to include graphics in your messages is unparalleled! ;) ~SDC~
Slothrop: zip the save file and folder and attach it in an e-mail to
Sigh. The inconstancy of bugs :notsure: I triggered this one repeatedly last night, and then when I decided to try it again just now before sending the save file+folder today, it's gone! :notsure: ~SDC~
CariElf- I have a save file that can reproduce a game hang unrelated to the aforementioned UP issue. I could install SmartException, but it is unlikely to show anything since the game hangs instead of crashing. Where should I send the save file/folder? ~SDC~
Yes, wincustomize is part of Stardock.
Well that worked. Thanks Spellforce and Shalom Shemesh!
I'll try the older version of this sheet that Spellforce sent me and see if it works.
The older version of the spreadsheet does work since the block#s are nonzero.
Slothrop you can go to wincustomize.com and you can edit your account there.
That's odd. I can go to wincustomize.com to change my name in the galciv forum? :notsure:
