As far as holding people accountable, I do. But I also know that even those who do what is wrong are often powerless to change without help. When someone gets out of prison and has a drug problem, without intervention, they will return to their drugs. I don't blame people like you. But most people do not change without support from someone else.

Baker Street, I read over all the blogs that you wrote on which I made comments. My opposition was very mild at best. I don't understand what you are talking about. As to the first Iraq war being stupid, it was caused by a mistunderstanding of what the United States would do. Of course we had to fight it, that still doesn't make it a smart war.

Dear Dhama, I'm sorry I sounded so defensive. but the way that you worded the wager sounded too simplistic. I think the wager only convinces those who are afraid of death and want to believe anyway. As for myself, Hell had no meaning for me because I was so depressed I felt like I was in hell anyway. Most modern people aren't really convinced to believe based on heaven or hell but by what God can do for us now. At least that is my experienc

"Yes; but you must wager. It is not optional. You are embarked. Which will you choose then? Let us see. Since you must choose, let us see which interests you least. You have two things to lose, the true and the good; and two things to stake, your reason and your will, your knowledge and your happiness; and your nature has two things to shun, error and misery. Your reason is no more shocked in choosing one rather than the other, since you must of necess

Of course if you quote it in French then no one who doesn't know French will be able to answer your question.

Okay. Quote the entire wager, including the arguments that Pascal made for the wager, otherwise the wager makes no sense.

http://www.saintmarys.edu/~incandel/pascalswager.html This is a link that argues Pascal's Wager as I did. Just because you didn't find anything like it on the internet means nothing. The internet has so many choices that it is hard to find all of them. I just happened to get my argument from theological seminary. This means it is biased, but so is your version. The refutation using a similar diagram is found on http://www.utexas.edu/courses/hilde

The problem is that there is no consensus in the child protective services as what constitutes child abuse. So some children are taken for perfectly good homes because of a false report and others are allowed to stay with the grandparents of the abusive parent without checking to see what the behaviors of the grandparents are. The only consistent way babies are removed from mothers is if the baby is born with drugs in its system. As for parenting co

Actually Pascal's Wager is worded a little differently. If you live the life of a Christian, which includes doing good works as well as believing in Christ and there is not God, then you will have lived a good life. If you live the life of a Christian which includes doing good works, and there is a God, then you will go to heaven after you die and you will have lived a good life on earth. On the other hand if you live as you please and there is a Go

There are ways to end the poverty cycle, but they are inner changes rather than outer changes given by education. The mindset of the poor needs to be changed. There have been movements in history which did that. John Wesley and the Salvation Army in the early years did a lot to change this mentality. But they weren't government programs. Lyndon Johnson created a lot of anti-poverty programs in the U.S. but I'm not certain if they helped anyone o

By the way, I don't as a rule insult people when I disagree with them. This is something that you do on a regular basis. I like this website and find it fun to blog here, but I find it hard to read your replies because they are insulting. Consider me a future consumer of your products. Would you insult a consumer?

You are correct. I did make assertions without backing them up. Attacking Iraq is stupid because even if we win the war, Iraq is too big of a country to control. There are too many divisions between the different religions and ethnic groups to stabilize without a huge army that we are not willing to pay for. Israel took care of the nuclear threat by bombing the nuclear power plant. That is a far wiser strategy than declaring war. We supported Sad

Saddam as evil as he was, was a secularist. The muslim extremists didn't like him. His mistake was that he thought that the United States wouldn't mind if he attacked Kuwait. We supported Saddam when he did his worst crimes. The war with Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism. It has only increased terrorism. Iraq has open borders and it is easy for the terrorists to come in and attack Americans and their allies. Not all action has valu

What about those companies like Walmart who do not pay their workers enough and give them health insurance. They have to get state paid health insurance. Most of the products they sell are made overseas. Those are the types of companies that hire former welfare recipients.

I don't think anyone would agree with that. However, Bin Laden would be less popular if the West wouldn't respond in kind and if the major problems of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia and the problems in Israel were solved.
