If you read and study the Bible Ecclesiastes included, you realize that Christians don't read it very much or they read only the parts they like. In rereading it this year, I find a lot of things that are different from what I've been taught.

I blogged on BN also. You will not find the problems that BN had here. This is a friendly group, but none of that writing idiotic stuff just to boost ratings.
I stayed in a posh hotel in Lincoln, not as posh as yours but quite nice. We even had a continental breakfast instead of the usual banger and eggs. When we were in LIncoln the weather was actually nice. I'm American. We lived in England for ten months and then came back for six weeks the following summer. That's when we visited LIncoln.
Richard, The theology that makes sense to me is that God suffers with humanity when bad things happen. I know that at times God does intervene and other times, he doesn't. I don't know why, but I do know that God is love. A heard a story that after the holocaust a Jew who hadn't been through it lost his faith in God, whereas another who did go through it continued to believe. I think that when we think of suffering and God, we will always get m
Both of you are very good writers.

Amen sister.
You are a wonder. What a beautiful blog you wrote.
I agree, but try doing it and you will find that very few people are willing to give up their assumptions and being right in order to compromise.
I empathisize with you on this matter. My daughter had a boyfriend who was manipulative and suicidal. She broke it off and then he called again saying he was going to kill himself. She got back together with him, but finally broke it off. Fortunately we didn't have to deal with the hospital, his mother did. If you have to, get a restraining order.
I don't think that there is a life vein to our culture. Politically we are polarized. Socially we have many different cultures here. The judeo Christian value system has been replaced in part by a value system from many cultures and religions. In addition, capitalism has greatly influenced our values. In my opinion, we have such a diversity and such a polarity that you will find little agreement on values. As for which are better than the other,
Richard, I agree with you. God limited himself, because he didn't create a world that was static, but a world that was free. As to why He did it, it is beyond my comprehension, but since he is love, then I trust the reason. I also know that our belief system is flawed--no matter what creed we follow.
You don't give up, I like this.
I think that we are like the monkey. If we don't get what we want right now, we'll never get what we want. Wednesday I wanted to run away from home, because I was overwhelmed, but I kept my appointments anyway and at the end of the day felt good. Yesterday I decided not to leave town. I had a great day. For me the letting go was of the feeling that I couldn't handle things, but I can and I did. I don't have control, but I can do things that make
It was Jacob who wrestled with God. In my opinion, there are two part to being a Christian. One is becoming a Christian and the other is being a Christian. Becoming a Christian is easy. It is simply trusting in God for your salvation, your baptism is a symbol of that. But being a Christian is hard. Being a Christian takes hard work. You have to give up your self-centeredness and learn to love God and let his Holy Spirit rule over you, instead of
This is a very wonderful blog. I've heard that story many times, but didn't associate it with lettting go. I have let go of a lot of thing in my life and it has been painful thinking about doing it, but actually doing it is easy. Other things took longer to let go of and after I did I still felt bad because I couldn't have what I wanted, but eventually I healed.
Suffering and God are very hard to understand. But I think that the very fact that you question God's goodness because of suffering is not only proof that there is a God, but that he is good. Your morality in judging God is created in you by God. Now as to why a good God would allow such suffering to be experienced by innocent children is an unanswerable question. But the alternative of no God is even more terrible. Then we would be completely alo
Thank you for your recipe, I will try to make them again. I was busy yesterday and couldn't answer, but I did notice that you had posted it.
You are correct, but you shouldn't worry too much. Elementary school age children believe what their parents believe. At least that's how it was in my daughters' classrooms.
Muggaz you don't need to be featured. You are an icon anyway. Congratulations to all the winners. Sherye
I think you go to far. Villianizing Muslims will only make the extremists have more power.
Go to the doctor. It probably is very serious. But it may also be curable. Pray before you go. Take someone with you. Just in case pack a suitcase. I suspect they will admit you.
You are quite a person. You have such depth but yet you love to play so much. Emotions are something that we don't really control. We just are able to hold them at bay. You can however, choose not to be with someone you love if you know that they will end up hurting you. I think that you will find it hard not to fall in love again.
Tonight I read in Exodus 21, that the price of a slave who is gored to death by a bull is 30 pieces of silver. Zechariah 11:12 I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"-the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD to the potter. ( This is a
Actually men can and do talk a lot. In a mixed group, the men dominate the conversation.
