I get a popup saying "GALCIV.EXE has encountered a problem and has closed (...) SmartException has attempted to log additional information..."
So a log was produced
The I press the SmartException button. I then go on to "OpenLog Directory" but in the directory is no log file saved except my installation log.
I have the same behavior since I haven't found how to tell smart exception where to put the log. You should trie to look at the root of the dr

What is in the debug.err file?
I did already download Smart Exception, and started it before starting GalCiv, but it hasn´t produced any log.
It hasn't produced any log (ie no popup telling that SmartException has catching the CTD) or are you unable to locate the log?
Symptoms: working when reloading an older file,
don't forget that in later versions, txt files were in the savegame to prevent abuse. So modifying files works only when starting a new game.
One question though... should I put everything in the mods folders or just replace the original ones in the galciv\data\ ?
It is safer to use the mods folder. So you can still have the orignal files :)
Starbase modules do not work
What do you mean? If it is the standard starbase modules, have you the starbase module files (extension .sbmodules) in your Galciv/data directory. If it is modules from a mod, then ypu must have the .sbmodules files in mods/galciv/data directory AND continuous numbering between id used for modules. BTW, there is another thread for bug linked with latest AP and Galciv release.
Hey Tech, why did you change empires? I'm just curious, just stupid newb curiosity maybe but why did you?
He went from Canadian Star Federation to diplomat empire since at this time, thediplomat empire was an active empire. But inactivity has struck the Diplomats Empire. So he decides to change to a more active empire.
Then, you had a Culture +20% improvement to THAT STARBASE
If you add a cultural improvement, you add a bonus for the sector and the surrounding sector. If you add a mining module on a strabase located on top of an influence ressource, you will increase your empire wide influence bonus.

So it seems that recalc will occurs only during one month for a complete year for each user. Seems strange. Maybe they have only found this way to avoid to much computation on all inactive users each time a recalc is done.

I have found a problem with the files CoreModules.SBMODULES and bonusmodules.sbmodule in Galciv 1.21: it looks like that, at a time, there were removed from the list of files used by Galciv (I don't remember having removed manually these files but I may be wrong). So I have no longer them in my data directory. Hopefully, I have made a backup of the 1.20 version. So I am able to recover the files. But it is very strange.

Dont really care about any of them. I hope that the new component system will be of help.
Do you know that you can rename your ships (and even opponent's ones?)
When designing custom maps
Since all submitted maps in the library have a warning about being not able to submit to metaverse, I fear that designing any custom map will result in an impossible submission
It may be the Reserch Inc Party too.
Yes the research.inc party has remplaced the New Diplomats party. You could also have choosen the sneaky diplomats party :)
I have the New Diplomats Mod installed.
Well, it is no longer in the Galciv Library.

Jaws has been hit by the recalc and I calculate the value he has. No games were dropped from Jaws record. And I obtain also the correct value for Technician. So it isn't the reason. Maybe the metaverse has a special processing for people that haven't submitted for more than a year.
Acutally this number in spending->tribute was really weird - 429496294,
Now, that is a bug that should be reported and an e-mail with the savegame displaying this number send to cariElf
In another thread on this forum, someone who hasn't played since about July 2003 noted his score dropped to zero. Sure enough, while he had games listed, his total was zero. How could this be if the maximum aging is 35%? Are games over approx 380-390 days dropping completly?
If games aren't dropped, he should have 6 614 Mpts. Now if they are dropped, I don't know the limiting day. For Shakkar, the nearest game is 443 days old
you'll notice that your score will appear to decrease more than if you'd have started submitting 4 games in the 30 day block.. but onlu until your 2-3/week games get into the 290+ days block.. then it'll level to the true 5% aging drop.. this is due to the raw total / squareroot(number of games) = average score * squareroot(number of games). because tthe number of games/block will change from 12 down to 4 which would mean that if you submitted 12 games at 60,000 the equation woul
