easy enough to mod... I made a pirate homeworld for players with 12 asteroids (to see how many looked Okay) I reduced it to five, I wouldn't go over 7 after that you need to mess with how roids are placed to avoid stupidity.
Gauntlet03
Yes I have seen this done, I rejected the concept from my personal mod, because some users enjoy adding those parts aesthetically to their ships; as well as I hated placing the parts on the ships as invisible made it harder for me to keep track of what I had indeed placed. Its a great thing for mods like B5 and such though.
yeah I see no problem with that... it really should be labeled as 'attack stance' and 'Movement Stance'
cuz you know... Thats entertaining... Lame... though we could go back to mod discussion- Perhaps the smaller races could have a big tech advancement which allows them to employ telepaths on ships and freeze shaddow craft lol. In fact general telepath development would be cool... and of course the unfortunate Narns would have none.
You can now... more or less
awesometastic
true; i'm not arguing its validity of a tactic. I just don't LIKE to play it myself... I should give it another shot or two though.
A funky scenario for players could be that one is the Shadows and one is the Vorlons, and the rest of the planets are all the little races... whoever gains the most allies and exterminations at the end wins...? Or perhaps a special tech called 'Beyond the Rim'
PS: I think they suddenly were able to take them out because the Shaddows element of surprise was gone and the races started fielding much larger numbers of craft against them.
well since draining power wouldn't stop their current speed, just cut acceleration; yes that is possible especially if some of those ships had very simple manuvering systems.... it probablly just drained power from complicated systems... Like I said JMS was never the most consistent author. I think he probablly meant that the fleet could defeat one of their fleets but not both, and most importantly he was obviously underestimating them... These fleets were big, nasty and finally going u
Never bother with embargo; the early raid technique just doesn't appeal to me, at least in that sense, its hard and risky and akin to rushing (though not in a deragatory way its hard enough to pull off that I respect it) I also go 2 missiles up front as it produces more DPS, and cannot be countered by flak burst. I upgrade missiles and fighters most before I pick anything else... my second sova might have embargo... Notably I have been finding myself with Sova, Kol, Sova Sova.
SO we really are getting mod tools? If so that would be truly brilliant. A decent map editor from release #1 seperates the men and the boys for RTS in my opinion.
could always be a ship model that will re-appear in whatever campaign there is... IE old ships, hero ships, and random sspecial civilian craft that need protecting.
I take a Sova consistently and I also win consistently. But winning has only a little to do with the Sova being a good choice. 1. Its very fast at cleaing militia, and I think its overall speed is the fastest for Cap Ships. This allows it to expand your empire quicker than a Kol. Those bombers rock. 2. The Sova doesn't need to risk itself in combat to be useful to combat, unlike any other cap ship. 3. Missile Batteries upgraded are devastatingly good. 4. Also
The Dilgar War was before the Earth minbari War, and notably we know a good bit about it; for one the Dilgar used biological weapons to decimate or anhilate whole populations, also they were driven to war by their foreknowledge of the fate of their sun. Once the war failed and dragged a bit, the sun went nova destroying the Dilgar. What few troops or ships are or were lefts probablly turned to piracy and by the time of B5 (maybe 30-50 years later?) they were probablly hunted to extinction.
or maybe at the time he did not realize just how nasty either side was, or that they had planet killers... been a long time since I've seen the episodes. I dont think JMS was the most consistent writer and this would suggest a big difference compared to the visuals of the show.
special pirate factions for the Shadows and Vorlons would suffice IMO, twould be nice if you had to destroy at least one of their bases to win.
An interesting take on a Star Gate mod would be to have all the players be varying factions of the Goa`uld... the SG1 Humans would be guess what? The Pirates.... from a series point of view it makes allot of sense, we only really have the one planet, and a few tiny craft but advanced craft, and we got trying to blow up the Goauld mostly for fun.
Ron- the term author is not exclusive to novels. Not by a long shot. It isn't even exlusive to text, though it most often is textual fo robvious reasons. Oh and guess what? Movies have scripts which are textual and thereby authored even though that requirement is vague and unnesecary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Author http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/author.html http://www.yourdictionary.com/author I'm a biiiig SST fan (novel woot) oddly enough I didn't miss th
yeah that would be very tough since there are just so little ship designs for it.
Well making ships classed as capitals isnt too big a deal if we have to,you can mod them into differen factories, or just have one factory, and reduce their stats to be apropriate. I'm betting it won't be too too hard. Not to mention I'm no stickler for absolute accuracy, if the ships look right its not a big deal if they only have front arc-ish weapons.
I can do that
it would amuse me if the Marza when using 'Raze' said "Nuke em from orbit, its the only way to be sure."
Yes and I'm working on AI friendly style number 21 for my mod lol... if you made me use caps for alll those hardpoints... I would murder you!!
~Vandenburg~ Your right Hard SF might do so, and I didn't restrict myself to books. But also like you said Sins is not hard SF, nor is hard SF mainstream SF. Nor did we at any point agree to restrict ourselves to books. Its simply more time consuming to list books. ~Morale could be done pretty easily and simply for Aesthetics, perhaps have ships which are technically dead, not simply explode right away, a simple chat voice saying "Game Over Man Game OVER!" As the ship turns runs for a b
