Had a UPtech vote, got 5 tech changed, and it DIDN'T crash! :SURPRISED: :CONGRAT: Very good! But have had numberous problems with unexpected crashes to the desktop, never had before. With my save games, I use a few base names, and have saved over with new games, and go to load later and get an old game, but timestanp is new. Might just be because of the old version base save, probably my fault.

All right, the majors are good early in the game for trade, but late game, they are cannon fodder. And the minors are same for early game, plus free cash. Then they can jump in front of the battleship for all the good it will do them. LOL

I have reloaded an game I started earlier on this version, and when election first time after reload, my party had 100 seats, and about 30 seats belonged to others (I had about 70). Also noted in post #16 by another player.
my setup is that the game isn't on drive 'C'
This shouldn't matter. Mine is loaded on my D: drive and my C: is my main. Just try to make sure you type your name exactly right, and you hit the send button only once. Then, relax, go get a drink, just be patient. It takes a while sometimes. Is it just me, or there a lot of people with this problem recently? Hacker damage?
or give them away to the majors to improve relationships.
I wouldn't recommend this because you can get techs from majors, and if your diplomacy is higher, and your abilites are higher, you get more. Besides, the majors are only good for cannon fodder. ;)
The AI is building unique galactic trade goods before I have my third planet colonized
The reason is because the AI will occasionally rush buy things (though I am not sure how often) and more likely the AI will set its production to all in one area, such as 100% military, social, or research. I am guessing by your account that you keep your sliders for production about equal. If you start out by setting more to mililtary, say above 60%, you get more planets quicker, the

I noticed that as I started a game, the minor races tab in the foreign relations was showing, but I had not encounted any minors yet. Is this new, or error, I am not sure. In the manual, the life force resource is still showing, and a progressive party is in the manual, but not in the game. [Message Edited]

I think it must be very old sticky threads, because I went hunting and found another Stardockian with the medal for PM here:http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=88922

I think that the AIs are at least semi-sentient. I made a party for fun, just like PJ, with massive bonuses. Everyone picked it, and everyone became equal with pq 40 planets.
It would be good if there was a way of demanding that other empires remove their warships from my sectors. Nothing annoys me quite so much as having huge scattered fleets of Drengin ships moving through my home sectors on their way to crushing someone. It really tempts me to send one or two Excaliburs to say hello.
I agree with this. I think this would be a great idea, like in Civ III, to be able to kick others out of sectors you control through culture.

Hi Crapnecticut. Are you from Connecticut? For your scores, there are several ways to improve them, most of which you have already touched upon. While I am not sure of the exact numbers, I know that your end game moral is important, as are your tech scores i.e. more tech, stronger tech = more score. The best way to see what you need to improve upon is to look at those individual end game totals in each area, and see which is lagging the most, or which areas are lower. Then, work to impro

Thank you Cari, but I forgot to mention that since I changed the name on the old account, my current one updates itself. It was the name that you can change inside of the GC Website that was causing problems. It appears that they became linked through that, despite different nicknames (through WinCustomize). I don't know how important this bit of information is, but with so many people, there could be duplicate names somewhere.
Nice reruitment pitch ABT
I don't know what you are talking about, there is nothing about recruitment in that ;)
It's a battle of economies
PoisonedAcid, Exar is also right about his policy. It can work both ways, and since you are just starting, I would recommend both. As you get better, you can edge away from military if you would rather. Just make sure to keep your strengths equal and do not let any of them lag behind, or the AIs will ta

What you could do that would help is research Defenders or Shields (Purple techs, and Shields are better). Then build the ships that come with them, Defenders and BattleAxes (BattleAxes are better). Then, put them on your planets by clicking on them like you would to land a colony ship. This raises your military rating, which makes the other civs respect you and will help your diplomacy. Hope this helps. BTW, if you really like diplomacy, click here: http://diplomats.galciv.org/diplomats

Ok, I have a question. We all agree that this was a horrible thing, and we agree that Stardock was very quick at getting everything back up, and I wish to thank them again for that. But I would like to ask what Stardock is doing to keep this from happening again?
