Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings Make sure "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is enabled. Note: If you have WB and/or WFX set to mess with your icons, it could override this setting.

Try refreshing your library database. You may have to exit and then restart SB for it to help. If that doesn't work, try clearing out your IE temporary internet files.

I don't use OE, but I have no problems here with WB and ACDSee 3 and 4. Okay, that's not completely true. I was having problems with ACDSee 4's path display in the copy/move dialog disappearing, whether using UIS1 or UIS2. I fixed it by changing ACDSee to titlebar skinning only. I've been trying to come up with easy ways to add quality shadows to pictures (on a permanent basis) with varying degrees of success. I found a program called Pic2Mail that I think does a real good job, but unfortunately, it re-sizes the images. (Its primary function is to prepare images for email.) I have Photoshop LE 5.0 and have been playing with the Eye Candy 4000 demo filter, and have had decent success with it, but I'm still not totally satisfied. Can anyone rec

Yes, I'm talking about the Turn Off Computer menu. If you're seeing tooltips there, that's why you're seeing tooltips on the desktop and I'm not. I disabled those awhile back. (Not that I disabled them just for that one location.) So I guess I have to make a choice.
