Just wondering if you've played the game, and, if so, if you've played the beta or the gamma? If the version you're running is the latest Beta, you should keep in mind that it's about 4 months old. It lacks alot of the polish that would differentiate a "light" game from a "full" game. All that we've done with the Bonus Pack is take some of the idea's given towards the end of the gamma testing period and implemented them. Nothing was "striped" out of the final version for the sake of the bonu

It was a good suggestion..and easy to implement ;) thats the key to getting ideas put into the game. I hope people also like the MP3 player (an option many people had asked for). I have to say, I couldn't be happier with that feature. Anyhoo...6 days and counting ;) ~SDC~
spacedust: lol to the OS2 mod of GC ~SDC~
Oops, didnt realize this was answered above. :\ ...It's gonna be one of those days. ~SDC~
The Stardock icon simply indicates the poster is using Stardock Central to post their messages. Specalty titles don't appear for SD employees, but here's a list of known developers that will post here: Frogboy - (Brad: SD CEO/GalCiv Project Manager/GalCiv Programmer) CariElf - (Cari: Lead Programmer) Boogiebac - (ScottT: Programmer) TMan - (Pat: Developer for SDCentral, Web Site, and Metaverse) AlexG - (ALexG: Lead Artist) Nakor - (Kris: QA/ect/ect) The_Bird - (Paul:
Newcomers to GalCiv (people who've purchased post-Beta5) will have to wait until March 26th for GalCiv to become accessable through Stardock Central. Only 7 days left though ;) And the manual is available online, incase you want to gear up for the gameplay. Also, feel free to ask any questions about the game to the beta testers...they seem more than happy to answer new posters. :)
*Reviews Twough i guess only one review wouldnt be that bad...as long as it was the most amazing review ever! ;) ~SDC~
"I run a dual-monitor system, so running something in a window has its distinct advantages." I'm also running my desktop with an extended desktop, my main card is a gforce 3 and my secondary monitor is run off of a gforce 2, but for some reason, windowed GalCiv dosen't play nicely on my second monitor (Of course, nothing rally does). Just a forewarning, but at least it's easier to minimize it and use other programs if necessary. "I will wait to see what others say before I dec
Windowed mode is an unsupported mode of play that requires you to run at greater than/equal to 1024x768res and 16 bit color. It'll be a seperate download on Stardock Central as a seperate exe of the most recient build. ~SDC~
The metaverse keeps track of each game's ID so the same game can't get it's score posted twice (by saving and re-playing). There had been talk about it allowing you to continue playing and upload a HIGHER score, but I'm not sure if that was ever officially changed (I prefer the "one shot" meathod, but thats just my opinion). ~SDC~
Sidesteppingsuperman: Turn off the GNN News option in the Options screen or Assign a valid Governor to the planet and turn on the "GNN ignores active governor" option. ~SDC~
We dont have an official size, but it'll be around 10 extra megs of data to download. We'll let you know the exact amount when gamma testing of the bonus pack winds down. ~SDC~
ahahahahahah!! Thanks Rusty...that was a nice way to start the work day ;) ~SDC~
lol ~SDC~
Pdifolco did say said "dont BUILD a single war ship"...I wonder if it'd be possible to win a game as a trading empire...acquire the necessary fleets through trade with friendly civs. By focusing on social projects (tade goods and wonders) and technologies (diplomacy techs) I bet you could get pretty far with this tactic. It'd be difficult, but interesting. ~SDC~
Oh, my friend, I assure you Zelda is no child's game...it's got a cartoony style, but beneith it pumps the might of a hella-sweet adventure (I'm guessing, of course, but none of the other versions have let me down, so I have no reason to beleive this one'll be any different.) But, to each his own, I suppose ;) ~SDC~
No, the more silly posts the better :D dont want this place getting too dry or violent, and a bit of lightheartedness is necessary to keep that from hapenning. Only 11 more days to go and you can have a copy without resorting to desperate romantic propositions, Though I'd be doing the same thing if anyone had a spare copy of the new Zelda lying around. ;) ~SDC~
We should probably make some rules about pimping yourself for free copies of the game. :\ It's bound to make newcomers feel uncomfortable. ~SDC~
100th post, baby!!!!!!!!!! :CONGRAT: I think this is the longest thread on the GC board EVER! ~SDC~
The rest of us have been toiling away at the Bonus Pack, but even Brad's been super busy, so I dont know where he finds time to post. He's a message-board fiend, that's for sure ;) Plus alot of the posts latly have been dealing with purchasing and distribution, areas the dev's know very little about. If you have any questions about the extended ship data list, starbases, invasion tactics, or political partys, I'll be happy to answer them (the main areas of the game I helped out with, unless
Yeah, i think an upgrade to Drengin.net will run an extra 30$ if you've already bought GalCiv. ~SDC~
Word around the office is that the demo will be released the second week of April. As for the fun factor...well :notsure: I'll leave that for the Beta testers and such to reply to...I doubt you want the opinion of an employee ;) ~SDC~
Congratulations! Time to get practice up on my autograph signing abilities ;)
There isn't a limit of ships outside of the planetary orbit, though (Stacked Ship List). Orbits are limited to make the game less agrivating. Imagine reaching an enemy planet with your transport fleet opnly to discover the AI's been hoarding 100 defenders at it's doorstep (or some situation like that). I personally would be like "OK game, you've pissed me off." and stop playing out of frustration (but then, I'm not a very Patient gamer ;)). I'm sure we could up that number...we'll jsut have
Yeah, 16 ships is the max # a star system can hold. ~SDC~
