No, you can also vastly improve your relations by establishing trade routes with a race. By directly trading with them, your economy and theirs become co-dependant, and their relations with you should grow considerably :) ~SDC~

You can't alter your starting treasury, but you can turn races on and off by clicking on their portrait in the Race Setup screen. Also, if you havn't downloaded the Bonus Pack, the Player/Galaxy Setup screen has been beefed up to allow pretty substantial customization of the games different features. ~SDC~

We can always add those two directives to the Terror Star extended ship data display...but our hope (at one time) was to have starbase specific directives. Have an starbase equiped with the "Core Detonation" module? You'll get the option to self distruct your SB, damaging all enemy ships in the sector. Or perhaps a "Extended Sensors" where, for 1 turn, you can re-route power from your shields (-defense) to boost your sensor range. Of course, none of these made it in...perhaps for a bonus pack

1. Not yet, but probably in the next bonus pack. 2. Yes. It's in the "Governors" screen under "Domestic Policy". THere's a "Military" Button available towards the top. Press that, and you'll get two lists...Pick the ships you want to swap production, and press apply! :) 3. No, those are the destinations of ships in your fleet. It lets you know if you have a ship already en-route to a certain sector. Way points have been suggested, though, and will probably make their way

I think Executor and Horatio bring up a good point, though. Perhaps, when an alien is offered a planet, they also look at the cultural influence of the offering race within that sector. If the planet will probably end up simply revolting back to the tradee, the alien will be more likly to reject the offer. I'll bring it up to Brad. ~SDC~

As of right now the "Survival Guide" available through the store-bought version isn't available online...but I just got word it'll be posted in the "encyclopedia" section of the site by the end of the week :) ~SDC~

As for windowed mode, it's a seperate unsupported executable you cna download from SDCentral. You'll have to start the game using this EXE opposed to the fullscreen version. Again, make sure you're in 16 bit color mode, otherwise the window will close as soon as it opens. ~SDC~

AA: Yeah, mp3 is the only format supported (it'll skip over all my Windows Audio files). You can export (I think) mp3 files from CD's using winamp...but don't hold me to this. ps. the true musician for all would-be galactic emperors... Phil Collins ;) ~SDC~

ExportA: Population, social improvements, and base star influence are the main determining factors when it comes to influence. Having fleets orbiting your system wont effect this, but it will make would be agressors think twice before sending those invasion Transports ;) ~SDC~

I agree. Perhaps have sliders on the Planet Details Screen that are "greyed-out" by default and are only available if a "Use Global Spending Ratios" toggle is turned OFF. On the same note, add a "Force Spending Ratios" button can be added to the Domestic Economics Screen by the sliders to switch all planets back to "Global Spending Mode". Just my idea on the topic...and agreeing that this would make late game social building alot less frustrating.

It's really too bad that we dont have some kind of 3d engine to support some of these ideas. If we did, it would be a matter of skinning... pRobot->SetSkin("DamageLevel02") or pgsGameScreen->SetSkin(GOOD_DAMAGELEVEL02), when we're setting the textures of already functional controls or animations. But since the engine is 3d, we'd literally have to render out a different robot for each damage level (with each animation about 5 megs a peice), meaning 3 damage levels x 3 morality levels x 5 megs p

Perhaps he can be the "Steve Urkel" type race...where every so often he pops up asking for some stupid trade (space cheese, perhaps), and you're just like "OMG Leave me alone you dorky alien!" And he's in love with your daughter but she thinks hes too geeky, but he makes a social project that allows him to be cool and she falls in love with him and they get engaged in disney world... *sigh* I just realized I know WAY too much about Family Matters. Time to get outside more :( <BR

Not as of right now, Im afraid. Perhaps we could take a cue from console games and allow you to "unlock" this feature. You can instantly set the skin of your UI to any type you've beaten the game as (ex. you beat the game as evil, you can switch to the evil interface whenever you want). ~SDC~

We dont know yet. Our department has been working on new aliens lately, and that seems to be one that is completed enough for Brad to post an image of. Wether its for a Minor Race, Major Race, cutscene...we're not sure :( ~SDC~

The Boxed Version comes with a 48 page manual (about 40 pages of which is info pertaining to the game.) You'll also get a 2 sided "Quick Start Guide" for new players, as well as an HTML "Survival Guide", that I suppose you can print out if you want to read it before going to bod. :) ~SDC~

They shouldn't, but it really depends on what overhauls are made to the game. MP3 players and screen tweaks will definatly not effect savd games. Later on, when the possibility of adding 2 new major races to the game (which will require some major code changes based on poor forsight on the part of the programmers) things may get a bit sticky. We'll be trying our best to make sure all saved-games are compatable. :) ~SDC~

People who have subcribed to Drengin.Net will have the option to get a GalCiv CD sent to them come next week (when GalCiv is officially released.) So, if you want both, I suggest getting Drengin.Net. I think you end up saving about 15 bucks, and if you have kids in the house you get Lightweight Ninja, which seems to really appeal to the younger crowd. :) ~SDC~
