What size galaxy were you playing on? In smaller galaxies, range isn't really a factor since there aren't many sectors to start off with. Couple that with a race that has a range bonus and it'd seem like their cheating. Unless they've found a loophole in the code :\ In which case we'll have to look into it. AI shrugging off ranges on a gigantic galaxy would be most annoying, I have to agree. ~SDC~

http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=3172003-8191 You can download a ziped trailer of GalCiv here. It's comprised of cutscenes throughout the game (though darker, due to compression) to give you an idea of the movies that are sprinkled throughout the game. However, if you're looking for a game with high budget cutscenes i suggest something from the Final Fantasy series, where the cinematics were are more intergral part of the game gameplay. Thats not intended to say FF gam

No, by default all planets will be goverened by Mr.Ford (a feature we added due t a flood of requests in early beta). My suggestion: dont assign anything to Mr.Ford. Only assign priorities to the bottom 3 governors and choose from them as needed. THis will have the same effect as planets only using a governor if you assign one. Hope this helps :) ~SDC~

kim: Current metaverse submissions are a one-shot-deal...once youve submitted a score from a game, no more scores will be accepted. This'll make players think twice before hitting that submit button - "If I go back and redo x, could I get a higher score?" ;) DonD: Thanks :) It took alot longer than expected, but I think it'll spice up the competition between empires. We fixed a bug where the update code wiped the #1st place player off the map (an obvious problem), but now it's done

1. Tech based. You have to research a government type before its available. 2. Resources dont effect the quality of the starbases modules. Instead, they supply a empire wide bonus to a certain area. (ex. red (military) resource = + ship attack + ship defense) 3. yes. send a 2nd colonly ship there or make on in orbit and click the planet you want to colonize. hope this helps ;)

Khaldun: This looks like a tough one. If you have SDCentral installed, you can find a program called "SmartException" under Software>FreeStuff. Install it, and It should run whenever GalCiv is run. When a crash occurs, submit the crash log to us, and It'll pinpoint the exact line of code that is making your game futz up like that. If you have any questions with SmartException, send a quick message to [email protected]'s the resident expert on the program, and can help you get it work

It's actually being set to a percentage. As you increase your revenue, your espionage spending will also grow. We should probably put a % by those sliders to show this. ~SDC~

What I did was pick about 15 different colors that are easy to distinguish between, then, when a new empire enters the top 10 (we'll only be displaying the leading empires) it randomly picks one of the remaining 15 color not being used. Also, the final version will let you click on a sector and see who it belongs to, what their score is, ect. - so it'll be easier to see what sectors belong to whom. ~SDC~
