For those still having the jewelry vanishing bug: Make sure you're not playing a saved game. Any game started in 1.2a will still have the faulty "bMetaverseGame == true" flag, which is causing the bug.

Tiny galaxys are naturally more hostile, with everyone trying to grab as many easy planets as possible, and when you play with ALL the other races active, you're just asking for constant wars. Try playing medium or higher, and with less races if you want to get along with your neighbors

Hehe I don't think the AI will never win...first it's too easy, then when it gets improved to recognize legitimate threats it's too hard. Ah well, time to test v1.2...which it sounds like will be kicking my butt (since I'm the type to just go around killing races)

MuLa: There is an event that can occur that does this. DId you skip over any event dialogs that may have informed you of the planets being upgraded? David and Camaero: Not a bug if you offer the leader enough stuff. Why suffer through the hardships as a leader if you can be taken over with cash and gifts and live the good life from that point forward

ShadowTek: Your "Jewelry Vanishing Bug", is it where the Jewelry is still on the ship, but just rearranged in an odd fashion, or is the Jewerly actually being completely stripped from the ships? Camaero: Do you have a saved game that your "Enemy Invading with 0 troops" bug is reproducable with? Thanks (and glad your're enjoying the game )!

I wonder if the startup applette is having issues. When you ran directly from "C:\....totalgaming\galciv2", did you run the GalCiv2.exe file or GC2Loader.exe? (silly question im sure, but jsut making sure) Also, check your root directory and make sure eveything was installed correctly. IIRC, the total game size was around 900 megs to 1.2 gigs, so if it's substanially less than that, perhaps something got screwed up with the install. The game shouldn't be trying to go online. I

1. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version from Stardock Central (www.stardockcentral.com). 2. Retart your computer after you've updated. Sometimes the updating process gets funky with the fonts and won't recognise them until the system's been restarted. Let us know if you're all still having problems

Tyler and Vesa: Before going back to 1.11, can you guys post your debug.err files so we can try an fix these crash problems? Thanks!

Hate to say it, but the main hulls are just too high of a poly count for us to officially include it. Right now, jewelry peices are between 100-200 polys. Ship hulls are 700-1500 polys. Frame-rate is already pretty painfull when too many decked-out ships are on the screen, and this will just cause players to grow VERY angry with us for supporting something that we knew would bring the system to it's knees <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

As people run into issues, can you let us know if you're running using the example mod, or if your playing without mods enabled? We're having a tough time reproducing these issues, and I can't help but wonder if we're not doing something correctly in the mods folder. Thanks for your help, everyone!

The Expansion pack will actually have a story generator that will do something like this. Perhaps we can export hte story as well as the history log, so people can make their own stories if they want.

Connection shouldn't really matter, since data's only sent and received seldomly. As for what to research first, it depends on how you want to play If you want to wipe everyone out fast, militarys the way to go. If you want to buy off your neighbors and wage your battles through proxy, then diplomacy is your best friend. Again, half the fun is picking the way you want to play and messing around

I wouldn't bother, honestly. The tech tree poster will only be good until the expansion, at which time more techs will be added. The collectors edition 'ship jewelry' is nice, but there's been talk of releasing that to the public in a later update, and the box's shininess will only captivate you for a few hours Oh, and theres the desktop theme, but (as much as I like it) probably isn't worth 40$

We're looking into it, but it's unfortunatly low on our priority list But if you need to design ships with all techs, I suggest playing the "Battle of the Gods" scenerio. You get all techs to start off with, and should be able to design all the ships you can imagine
