I was thinking that perhaps we should put a condition in the "Culture Conquest" victory that says "If you've DEFEATED any race, or gone to war with more than half of the other races, then the culture victory will no longer be an option". This way, you have to focus on Cultural Comination, and not just stumble upon it as you invade planet after planet. Just an idea though.

Can everyone having this issue try getting the latest drivers for their video cards? Lockiel, your drivers are actually from 2003, so I have a feeling that may be a major contributing factor As for everyone else, we can see if this fixes the problem
Next time the game crashes, could you post your debug.err file here so we can see what error it reports right before the crash? Also, if you're feeling exceptionally generous with your time theres a free program in StardockCentral called "Smart Exception" that you can install and run while the game is running. Then, when it crashes, it'll generate a report that we can use to find the exact location of t
Unblinded: FYI, we were able to get Alt-Tabbing withing 100% of the time on the computers here in the office, so perhaps it's a system-specific issue? We had some problems with had to be delt with on a card by card basis (for a while ALL nvidia cards were being butts about the issue). Can you go to your GalCiv2 game folder and post your debug.err file? We can see if we can reproduce your system specs in the office and reproduce the problem. Thanks!
Hey speeze! Thats a sweet looking ship! I definatly suggest getting that poly-count down, though you're obviously spending alot of time on these, and to have users not use them due to frame-rate issues would be a MAJOR bummer. FYI, all hulls in the game were designed at 2000 polys or less, and jewelry was 600 polys or less...which is a LONG way off from the 260k tris that ship is kickin' right now,
Oh, and now the Delete button should remove the selected ship component Now I just need them to get in a Ctrl+Z to undo the last modification and the ship building screen will be more app than game
For future reference, Beta builds will ALWAYS have isses that need fixed (hence the warning on the download site and news post). If you don't wish to help in fixing these issues as they are discovered, I HIGHLY suggest waiting until the final patch is released. However, if you want to help in the development process, please post your Beta problems on the appropriate forum to assist in our battle to get 1.1 as bug-free as possible <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Sm
Go into My Documents>My Games>GalCiv2 and there'll be a prefs.ini file. In there, you can manually alter the horizontal and vertical resolutions that the game is playing at. Also, could you pull your debug.err file from the c>my programs>stardock>.totalgaming>galciv2 directory and post it up here? That'd give us some system specs to look at to better help you out! Thanks rug!
Were you loading on a turn where the planet's had already purchaced something? At one time this was an exploit, but should be fixed now. If this isn't the case, could you send the save game file to [email protected] so we can look into it? Thanks!
Hmm...if this reprodeces following a "save/load" can you send that save game to [email protected]? Thanks!
Actually, I'd like to see an option added that just says "Prompt me to Upgrade my Starbases", so if you have it togged 'OFF', then it'd just bring up the upgrade screen without the unnecessary clicking.
Unfortunatly these are all completely random happenings, so it all comes down to luck (real luck, not the ability) Hope you see these events soon!
Hmm...can you go to your game's root directory (ex. c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\) and run the game directly from there (dblclick galciv2.exe)? Perhaps the auto-loader isn't playing nice with the game. I'm fwd'ing this issue to some of the more skilled coders to see what suggestions they can offer
Could you send that save file and crash log to [email protected]? We'll load the game up and see why it's being a pain Thanks!
If you want to go to war, you (and your political party) need to be in control of the senate. WHen it comes time to hold an election, the people will vote on what political party they want to see in power. If they're happy (Overall Morale > 50) you'll most likely stay in power (though I suggest keeping morale around 70 for saftys sake). If you morale gets too low, your government party will get the boot from office, and your opposition party will take the lead, and when you try to go to war t
The only scripting that gets contained in the DXPacks is the scaling code. In future games, we want to open up the features to allow all game data to be accessable through the DXPack, as well as allowing more of DesktopX's scripting to be acknowledged on the game side (for animations and such), but at the moment you are correct, the changes that you make will have to be purely cosmetic
Try updating to the newest version on SDCentral...this problem should have been fixed.
We'll look into this, thanks Flea!
Concerning the Debug.err: Go to your root game directory (probably c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2) and open the debug.err file. Just copy and paste the text from there into here COncerning the Load Times: Did the load times for ALL games get long, or jsut for deception? Was this after you've updated to a new version (perhaps the 1.1 beta). And can you send the save game file to g
alexwest: That can be done...I'll put it on the suggestion list. tripp: Not by my mortal hands I suggested it before Gold, but the smart coders said it'd be too tough to do right, so I sulked back to my corner of the office. serratemplar: There have been many suggestions on this matter....mostly relating to starbases. We'll see if we can fit something it without destroying the balance of
Nope, once you hand that item over it belongs to that other races forever. No "Takesies-backsies" in the GC2 world
Agreed. We'll get this in for 1.1 Thanks Justas!
There was talk about something like this being uploaded to the metaverse at one point (in early development) but turned out it would have been alot of info to send to the server. I'll put in the suggestion to have it done locally, cause it'd definatly be cool to look back on
In StardockCentral, does an "Uninstall" button appear when you click on the "Galactic Civilizations 2" entry?
If you're launching constructors to go to a starbase, I would suggest using a "Rally Point" to have ships made on a planet auto-launch the constructors and send them to the right location (check out the rally point tutorial for more info).. You can also right-click on the notification icon (the blue box that drops on the right side of the screen) to launch a ship...which is alot easier than finding the planet and sifting through the planet screen . As for differenciating betwe
