Yeah, if these suggestions dont fix it, downloading smartexception should lead us right to the problem. In Stardock Central, go to "Free Stuff", download Smart Exception, and have it running in the BG while you play GC2. It'll create a crash log that we can use to track-down your bug. Thanks! edit: Actually, please wait until the new update is put out. Smart Exception will return the address of the crash, which may be off if youre using an old EXE. Try the new update (being re

Hehe Just wanted to chime in and point out that there is another thread in the forum talking about how Culture Flipping is "too difficult" I'd be curious to see the difference picking different races has when specificially trying to win using this meathod.

Ah-ha! Nice work guys, I can picture the code in my head where this would crash the game. I'll hammer this out first thing tomorrow (at home ATM) and let you know if the bug gets fixed. It'll feel good to finally grind this bug into the ground

Trade route income is effected by.... -length of the route -your base Trade ability -how far the ship is from it's homeplanet (more money as you get closer to the destination) -if there are Starbases with Trade modules on them along the route Question 1: The route will be from earth. Q2: I think it'll populate it with 1m, or something similarilly as small.

Perhaps you should give the campaign a try. It tends to be a great way to easy players into the game. Each mission has a very specific goal, so you can learn how to properly identify a goal (colonize a system, invade a planet, establish a trade route, take over a race with cultural starbases, ect ect) and work towards it. In sandbox mode, all the options can quickly overwhelm the new player <

Ah, actually, could you guys zip up your "my game/galciv2" directory (everything except for the saved games). Perhaps there's something going on there that we havn't forseen. Just sent those files to [email protected] and cc [email protected] (who you guys have also been in touch with). As far as I knon duplicate ship design names will just be saved over one another, but I could be wrong.&n

I HIGHLY suggest filling up your Build Queue when dealing with planets. Most of the time, you can determine what to build on the planet when you colonize it, hopefully fixing your issue. However, there's no reason we can't eventually put a button that brings up the minimap with the planet on it...it'll just have to wait until the other bugs get stomped out

You should just be able to delete that bink file in game\movies and the game will pick the static version instead. If you want to go all-out, though, get an looping animation of your race, and use the bink converter (www.radgameingtools.com) to make a bink file of your own. Replace and the game will play your animation instead of the old one.
