Also note that the 50% is for production on the planet. You can still get full research if you buy/build research buildings on those planets before getting the advanced colonization for said planet.

I'm one of the ones that resisted/complained about the cross posting setup, but this is one I would not put into the annoying, off-topic category. It's no different then the various posts about Spore,TF2 and the multitude of other games that get talked about here. I hang out on the GC2 forums because I enjoy the community here and had missed other announcements about Entrenchment, so maybe it's just a case of the post containing information that I wanted causing my bias in favor of it

I guess that's why I don't buy consoles anymore. Used to, you brought one home hooked it up and it just worked. For years no doubt. You didn't see all these issues with the Genesis or the Saturn. I even ran the Saturn for 16+ hours a day for months with no issues. As they add more complication to them(online BS, HDs DVD/Blu-Ray and such), the reliability just seems to go down the tubes.

In DA I have upgraded a 2000Troop Transport to a 250M Colony ship and it does retain the 2000M. At first I thought it was a delay, not updating thing, but I was able to keep it for several turns and eventiually colonized a planet with the full 2B to start. So I guess it's been around a while, I had forgotten about it till your mention.
