When you're browsing in explorer you should have a list of all the folders on the left... you're entire system including every drive. In "My Computer" there's the XP drop down stuff on the left and one is called "other places". Is that what you mean? I think that would be a reg hack if it's possible, I don't know if it can be changed.

The IRC server and Stardock's website are affected. Power should come back slowly over the course of the next few hours. This was a huge outage, probably the biggest ever. The one in '96 was 9 western states, Washington to San Diego, Texas and as far east as Montana. But that one wasn't a complete failure, many cities had power and the outages were like big spots on the map but not whole states. Good luck to all... I hope it gets fixed soon. For me it's a tossup between ACDSee and Notepad... I guess ACDSee would be harder to replace. I can't stand the "preview" viewer built in to XP. It pisses me off that it's the default for double clicks on graphics files, I just rebuilt my system and I can't remember how to disable it.

I didn't get it but my cable provider did. I've had no internet service for the whole day. It went down around 1:00 pm and just came back a few minutes ago - 12:10 am. Comcast told me they were 'helping' microsoft because there were tens of thousands of customers having this problem. The key to getting the patch is to (within the sixty seconds) go to your internet connection config and activate the ms firewall (advanced tab). Sometimes if a browser window is launched by an app (like clicking on a link in ICQ) it doesn't skin. This shouldn't be happening if you launch IE from its icon but could happen if you have an app launch it.

kona, you got the slash going the wrong way. This will restore every Windows system file that's changed, which could include some updates? I'm not sure I'd want to run that utility with all the changes my system has gone through... does anyone know if it's safe to run this? An easier way might be to reinstall Icon Packager and reset the icons from there.

actually I should've said "We're in the minority". The edit box went away while I ate dinner... Another thing, the artist who "ports" an OS needs to do his own artwork, like alexandrie's KDE and Corona skins, she drew everything herself, she didn't copy screenshots of someone else's work. Her work is protected the same way, the OS design is fair game but her artwork is not, you can't take her drawings and use them without her permission. Draw your own.
