Check out "Win2k Extended" by Mercury. I think that's the name... There's also a tan colored one called "Win2k Extended Desert" It's the basic Windows look with lots of extra features. It won 2nd place in the last Windowblinds contest. (if my memory is correct)

Koasati has XP? ...what is the world coming to..... ?
deadman - right-click on the link and select "save target as"... the link is a good one. That's a great skin Jafo! I never realized the clock and other controls only show up when the skin is rolled up. Your UIS is like tutorial with all the info in there...
I think skins rated lower than 4 don't show up in the general list. Maybe that's just wallpapers though... Anyone should be able (if they're a member) to edit the visibility range in their user profile.
I'm always amazed at how many downloads skins get here as opposed to the other sites. It's also amazing how few comments you'll see on a skin that gets over twenty thousand downloads. Congrats adni 1.6 million is a truly remarkable number (I can't count that high)...
Obviously the ballots were confusing and people thought they were voting for a noisy Democrat skin when actually the hanging chads caused their vote to be cast for a soundless Republican skin... ;)
If I could do nothing but make skins I'd work at least 14 hours a day doing it... I don't want to be cured either... just want more time to skin Don't worry davad, now that you're hooked you get to do the twelve step program -> WB, ICQ, Winamp, NS, HD, WMP, OB, well... you get the idea...
yikes... first thing you need to do is get rid of your download accelerator. Any file you download should have an extension. Make sure you don't have that switch in "view" checked that says don't show file extensions for registered file types. Wallpapers are just images, you right-click on it and select set as wallpaper or desktop or something like that. the rest of the files here all work with some software. If you have Object Desktop, then you should have Windowblind
also there is a lot of discussion about updates lately that makes the skinners more sensitive about listing all the fixes explicitly in the description so no one will think they didn't have a good reason to update it. Most updates fix realatively minor things that are huge to the artist but probably not noticed by most users.
First you have to install the skins. Download them to the desktop and install them with the add button on the display properties dialog. Then you can select a skin from the list and Windowblinds will apply it. I downloading isn't working do this: right-click on the download link and select "save target as" and save it to the desktop. If you want the transparent explorer backgrounds, you have to change the folder options to "use Windows classic folders" under 'tools' on an explorer window men
Lots of them do... Painted Metal has very original sounds for example... I went through all the skins looking for wave files and found there were quite a few. (including seti green)
Try downloading the skins again by right-clicking on the download link and select "save target as" then download it to your desktop. After the download is done, install the skin from the Display Properties/Appearance dialog by clicking on "add" and selecting the skin file on your desktop...
are you using WindowBlinds?
I didn't realize you were more than one person. I didn't mean to get you riled up - sorry if my remarks rubbed you the wrong way. I was just trying to say what a power user skin is to me, which I believe was your question. I admire your creativity and your very different approach to color in skins. Relax... you have two medals already and I'm sure you'll get more. The comment about Gray's skin was based on the above thread. Sorry if I misinterpreted what was said. what's wrong with typograph
Ruinedinc - I don't get all the complaining. I offered to have one of my skins (Seti glass) removed since you complained about it being here, and now I find out you 'borrowed' grayhaze's skin for your layout and features (with no credit given apparently) and then complain that yours didn't score higher than his. To be honest with you, I think your skins are very well made but I've never used one and probably never will because your color schemes are so radical. I think in terms of 'usability' a
The GUI Olympics has made for a lot of updating because in a lot of cases skins were rushed to get in on time...
It's really an honor system. An update that fixes some major bugs really should go to the top so people that downloaded the skin can get the fixed version. Cosmetic updates are equally important to the skin author. But skins being updated purely to move them to the front of the list is unethical and rude. How do we fix it? or is it really not that big a deal?
Actually paxx, FX makes the whole thing transparent, buttons too. If you get it as clear as the explorer window in the setigreen screenshot you wouldn't be able to use the skin...
In Windowblinds configuration screen go to "Settings" and click on "Advanced" and put a check in the box where it says "Make explorer windows 'semi-tranparent'. You also will need to go to an explorer window and and click on Tools/Folder Options in the menu and select "Windows classic folders" for the view settings. The Windowblinds configuration screen will also let you set the explorer text color which will probably be neccessary to be able to read the icon labels.
I assume you're talking about my 'seti' skins. I didn't think it would be a problem. In fact, after spending three extra days building the orange one it never occurred to me. Originaly I was planning to make 3 different versions for 3 different websites. If the judges don't think they should be there then delete the "SETI glass" one. The green one was there first.
/me steps on the couch and st0rts mispeling stuff... is he gone yet?
I have XP on my notebook (which is my 'work' machine) and I love the visual enhancements. If you're going to use it on an LCD screen then Cleartype alone is worth the upgrade. I like the new start panel too but ObjectBar will give you that in 2k. So far, the only major difference I've noticed is quicker start-up and shutdown plus a lot of nice eye-candy.
nice upgrade
I couldn't get the smart buttons to show up and it was Alexandrie that helped me fix the code to make them visible. When they did become visible and the blue IE pacman was there instead of the button I used, I freaked and she said you can't change it. I was hoping someone else had found a way around this....
