Glad to hear that it worked out okay, SHE. I can imagine that getting college students to stay put is probably a lot like herding cats.

Your life seems funnier than mine. Perhaps it's because you talk to other people. Or because I'm crazy. Funny stuff happens to crazy people Great conversations....you should try talking with a four year old...makes your head want to spin all the way round... Agreed. I used to nanny for four year old twin boys (and
One of my new favorite songs, from a band in Liverpool called "Marlowe."
Bump 'cause I miss my Island gurl... ditto. Hope you're well, Em.
Various conversations from the past seven days. Conversation One: As my friend A and I are driving back from Philly, I’m trying to get her to tell me who she has a crush on. I’m getting out of the car. Me: Everyone has crushes—I mean, I have a flavor of the day, but you have to at least have a celebrity crush.
Hooray! I'm so happy to see you posting. You gave us quite the scare, my friend. I am thrilled that you are feeling better/strong enough to be on JU. Looking forward to more articles when you feel up to it. It is so nice to have you back!
Sorry! Go back to remedial reading. It looks like a lot of people have to go back to remedial reading. The article "What happens when there is No Plan B" states at the begining: The conservative politics of the Bush administration forced me to have an abortion I didn't want. Well, not literally, but let me explain. If you missed the point of the article, it was about how Plan B was meant to be a
This, my friend, was hilarious. I hope you chewed his/her ass out--that is the "right mother fucking answer."
Good morning, Elie. Just wanted to pop in and say hello--let you know that I'm still thinking about you. I'm looking forward to your return--my mind is getting rusty since I've no one to rile me up and debate with! I hope you are getting stronger and healthier each day--I'm sending good vibes in your direction!
I love reading blogs like this from you--they make me smile!
well, at least I learned something in college, right?
I believe the trusty sayings I learned in college may be of help here: Liquor before beer, you're in the clear. Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Oh wait, it says nothing about wine. Probably cause it was college and wine was for cultured folks!
Tragic. It makes me angry when I hear of such senseless death. I couldn't agree more. Angry and sad, but mostly angry.
Thanks for the update, Colleen. It's very kind/thoughtful of you to check in here and keep us crazy cyberfriends posted on what's going on. I, for one, greatly appreciate it. Take care of yourself, and give Elie a giant hug from me!
Weird. This wasn't supposed to be in the forums. Thanks for the comment, LW. And here I was sending you an email about how tough my week was. Nothing like a little reality check. I wish there was something that I could do -- times like these make me feel so helpless. I baked some cookies and brownies and filled up a basket of fruit, soup, crackers, chips and chocolate and took it to the hotel. People have to eat, right-- they always have to eat. But it seems so insignfica
In August, my friend DL moved back to Ireland. The following month, DO'B came from Cork to replace her at the hotel she was working in here in DC. At 2am on Friday morning, DO'B was driving home from work when he was killed by a drunk driver. The crash scene was devastating. While I never met DO'B, I do know a lot of his co-workers and my heart
.and I for one will wait, Nick! Take care of the important things first ditto. but I'm not saying I'll be happy about it. Sounds like life is keep you busy these days!
I really enjoyed this SC. Hope your professor does too!
LW--You're making me blush--but I sincerely appreciate the kind words. I just wish I really did have "inner peace"--but I'm working on it... It depends on whether you are taking a random sample or not. If you are in an area that only has brown cats, obviously all cats are brown. Taking a random sample of 600, if you find the sample average to show all cats are bro
My bad. You're a little more politically savvy than most, so I wrongly assumed you were up on our ridiculous legislation. I wasn't, but I'm definitely going to look into it. Thanks for the info.
shades: you're implying that your standard of 'fact' would ever be possible. It wouldn't. At the level of certainty you're asking for there would be very few facts. Really? I disagree. If an inductive reference from the observations is justified, it should meet three criteria: 1. The number of observations forming the generalization must be large 2. The observation must be made under a variety of conditions 3. No accepted obs
The BBC pulled the video so now I won't get to know what the fuss was all about. Darn!
Texas law recognizes common law marriage between a man and a woman, but Texas law forbids same sex couples from being married or even having a legally equivalent status. I don't agree with it, but it IS the law. Any same sex couple living together and proclaiming themselves as married are lawbreakers. If you don't understand it, I'm sorry. I honestly don't know how to make it clearer. Sorry, I really wasn't trying to be dense, I just
Dr. Guy--I think we are talking about two different things. Your article might be fact, I don't know--I haven't had time to read it. My point was that what KFC said wasn't a fact. If the first 600 cats I see are all brown--that doesn't mean that all cats are brown, right? By the same token if 600 Adventist give more than 600 Catholics, that doesn't mean that all Adventist give more than Catholics. That's what I was trying to get at. I'm reading a book on the philopshy of science ri
If a gay couple is living as married in the state of Texas It's against the law in Texas for two men to live together? I mean, I realize that they can't get "married" -- but I'm not sure what you are saying? Are you saying that an unmarried man and woman living together (as married) are also breaking the law? Sorry, I don't mean to be dense, I'm just not clear on how the two points interact.
