I gotta say the galciv3 AI has come leaps and bounds since release. And I know there's still loads of room for improvement! i think what galciv needs now is something to make the map more exciting. the space just feels so... Empty! Which is great for realism, but awful for engagement. specialised and upgradable shipyards, anomalies, constructable planets or megastructures, more resources, gas collection, etc etc. A

at rank 4 it shouldn't be more than 3 or so minutes. There's typically around 10 people in the queue at any given time.
A lot of it has to do with your rank. The higher the rank, the longer it can take sometimes because it won't match you up with someone vastly outside your rank. We expect to have a pretty big inflow of new players soon (going to be doing a sale soon).
Right now, we do believe the Substrate have gotten OP. It didn't happen overnight. Just a tweak here, a touch there and the balance gets too far the other way. Check out https://forums.ashesofthesingularity.com/477528 to see the reinforcements the PHC are getting.
This is really impressive!
Some of this is just incorrect. A Mixed PHC T1 force will chew through a similarly priced Substrate force every time. However, a mixed Substrate force will massacre a mob of brutes. Brutes are designed to be fodder for the Archers. Re Drone Hives, we are increasing their metal cost and reducing their vision so that they aren't able to target units as far away as before.
That pains me to hear. We would be much obliged if someone familiar with the game might be willing to help us in this area. We sent Ashes to a firm that specializes in game localization. But we have no native German speakers here.
I want to preface this that I really REALLY like some of the design ideas in Stellaris. But I don't want to hear one word about GalCiv III AI being "bad" by anyone praising Stelllaris. I'm not sure you can lose at Stellaris.
Frogboy, I did realize it. My post was in part a kudos. The rest of your post is a good satisfying response. Ticktoc's point about EA: I bet you could get away with a founder/founder-elite program so you still get some player feedback during development, but not do EA. Much of pre-beta we were under NDA, and I could see extending that until much closer to release. Yeah multiplayer would be hard to test, but I think players vs. d
wellcome to the phc beatdown club. I have just had a game where I have mined almost 2 times more metal than substrate and substrate had the biger army. what a joke. phc is choking for metal while sub is mass producing T2 while also having a good economy. Draginol: the main problem with the low metal cost for substrate cruisers is that the extra metal goes into workers and economy making the allready broken cruise
I'm not sure you realize that I'm the President of Mohawk. My involvement in OTC was non-trivial, especially in some of the areas you call out. The two biggest differences between OTC and Ashes/GalCiv are budget and iteration time. When you use an existing, mature game engine, you know what the engine can and can't do and design your game around that from the start and iterate on it. When you make a game with a new engine that is being developed
I am really looking for Stellaris being out for so many reasons. For one, I enjoy the EU games a lot. Secondly, every time there's a space strategy game we have people who say "game X will have all these things I wanted" and then game X comes out and it's not a magic bullet. Every time I see someone talk about how we should have tactical battles I can just say "Hey, there's a new MOO. Did they implement MOO tactical combat the way you demanded we should? No? We
Does this mean three different sizes for T1, T2 and T3 units on the strategic map?
Not presently. In this case it has to do with resources. But T3s are scheduled to be dsiplayed on the mini map differently.
The weak gaurdians only applies to the tutorial.
Ashes of the Singularity v1.11 was released today. The update is a lot bigger than its 0.01 version change might indicate.
well the rad cost increase solved nothing IMO. sub cruisers outnumber phc 2 to 1 always. the mechanic behind it it's just to simple. build assemblies, tech up while capping with martyrs and as soon as the the tech is done, queue cruisers and profit. avatar cost has not been addressed yet and sub cruisers are still cheap for what they can do. assemblies build with metal and produce high tech units as opposed
1. Is almost done. 2. is in development. 3. I agree. The data is in the game. Maybe some aspiring modder or volunteer would be willing to take pick this up. The data you want for 3 is in weaponmoduleteamplates.csv and unittamplates.csv
