What matters is how good the game is and not 64bit.GC3 is not scaled for large galaxies like Stellaris is.GC3 is micro hell at that scale.
64-bit it is just one of many features. GC3 didn't have the luxury to tap into a 10+ year old game engine. Obviously, we could have taken the GalCiv II engine and continued to enhance that until we hit the memory limit. We made the choice to go to 64-b

Not memory as much as disk space. The answer: No real optimization yet in that area.
They do not possess anti-gravity technology (no hover units).
A Drone Hive costs 60 rads to build. Assuming the Substrate player goes straight for the Radioactive natural which has, say, 2 rads on it it would take them quite awhile to build up to get a single drone hive. And if they're doing that, they're not doing anything else. A Zeus, by contrast, requires less than have the amount of radioactives to build. Thus, the PHC player can tech up and build a Zeus. Anyway, we're going to see how this week's
Good grief Charlie Brown, I thought you guys were computer scientists. It's not the stats that are the problem. It's your interpretation of what those stats mean about player preference that is possibly folly. By your same logic people prefer Brutes over Zeus because they are more numerous. Sound ridiculous? Exactly.
You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how our data is collected. You seem to think we
Hello Brad.. i kind of stopped playing the game for now, I still love the game and i really want to get into it and play everyday for at least 1 hour, i will jump into the game again, but I will be waiting for the next good update. My reasons are: There is no easy way to share my own made maps, you said that if a player have a map and the other does not and want to play MP they c
I still ask myself every-time i play the game, why we have Logistics in the game? I don't really see the main reason in a Ground RTS game. In sins it great to have it, but in AOTS... not really sure.
It provides us with another know to turn between fast expansion vs. teching up. Same as most other RTS games which have logistics.
Air units: PHC Hades: 55 second construction time, costs 330 rads to build. Substrate Punisher: Requires a Quantum archive, 60 seconds to build, 350 rads. PHC Fury: 60 seconds construction time, costs 200 rads to build Substrate Dominator: 55 second construction time, 220 rads to build In short: It takes roughly the same time to get a Dominator out as it does a Fury. It takes far less time to get a Hades out than
Quoting Frogboy, reply 10 I've been meaning to write a long article on the vast differences between forum goers and the average gamer. Examples I've learned (the hard way) Very few people play on big maps
Greetings! This week's micro update is now live. We like to do these little updates whenever there's an opening in QA for something small that is data only. We've been watching and crunching the numbers. Personally, I am looking for feedback, especially actionable criticism. I really like Megas feedback because it's actionable. The problem we're having is finding enough criticism that is actually actionable: EXAMPLE of actionable criticism: The maps are drab and static that it takes me out of the game The units and buildings are very static which doesn't conform to the quasi-real art style. Are the units meant to be abstract or are
For weeks, and during the beta, the Substrate were definitively weaker. So over time, we've been boosting them to try to find the right balance that makes them competitive.

Calm down. We look through all the data. 1.1 has been out for what? A week?
It makes sense to further nerf phc. Probing force is allready expensive and has been nerfed. The developers should be punished to play 20 games as phc vs the top 3 substrate players to see what sub bombers and avatars can do to phc.
Did you read the change log? Punisher (that's the Substrate bomber) just got its damage significantly reduced while the PHC Nexus armor just got increased.
I'll take a look. That may be the oldest map in the game. lol
@Frogboy No, that's not how it works at all. If I right click on a healer in an army, units will just fire on anything in that army and ignore the healers.
Ah I see what are getting at. Yea, an army is treated as a single unit. That is supposed to be the advantage of building an army is that the other units can effectively screen it lest the game be about who can micro the be
Yes, it got broken the other way. Timing issue. Yesterday's update fixed it and we also added a new mission.
Didn't Brad mention that for multiplayer only one side has to own the DLC?
Correct. Only the host has to have the DLC. Then everyone can play.
I am trying to understand this better. I just right-click on the unit I want them to focus fire on and they do it.
Yep. It's fixed internally. It's a timing issue. Should be going up imminently. OTC launch slowing things down.
I think many of these things are legitimate. The game's art direction is not its greatest strength to be sure. It is one of those trade offs of dealing with a new engine. What Ashes gives in return is the ability to evolve quickly in terms of raw gameplay. Eye candy will keep flowing in as well but that will naturally take time.
I am glad to see someone who thinks the Substrate are OP. Most of the top players play exclusively PHC. I very much wish the Substrate were a "I win" race to get people to play them more. :) There will be many arguments over the coming years over which race is better. Just like StarCraft players regularly complain about Protoss (or as I call them, the tutorial race).
