Okay, I updated to WB 6.4 on my Vista machine. Now, I have a problem with the blind I am working on. The text color on the right side of the start menu is not the text color I had there before. My chosen text color is still in the text colors area, but the color that is showing is not that color! I like the normal text color on my start menu to be the same in all panes. What WB 6 did, was take the mousover color from the All Programs panel and used it on the right side too! [img]http://i

I'm glad you got your program to work right! Both same theme, but mine works and keeps on working (except that button thing) but his just blacks things out.
Is your dad's problem occuring when he has that same program running on it? , If so, try a total exclusion on your dad's lapt

I have had a couple of programs that don't like Windowblinds...so, I don't have WB skin those. To do that, open the WB config window. Click on the settings tab > Change the look of an app > Add per application setting. Scroll to the executable of the program in question (i.e., blah-blah.exe). select it, click open. You will then have a screen pop up with various options. Check the total exclusion box, click ok. Then be sure to click Save my chan
When designing a Vista start panel, make the left side wider than the right because the all programs list pops up in the start menu itself instead of a fly out like xp. Long names get chopped off if your left side is to narrow.
For Vista: Using a start menu that is 380 px wide, I make the left side panels 230 px (both the Programs and All Programs panels), and I make the right side panel 150 px wide (the Places panel). It was 30 here this morning at 4 am. It is up to 41 now...heading for 70 today! The weather people are telling us that this is last of this very cold (by Florida standards) weather this season. I sure hope they are right!
like vstyler said its a bug and it SUCKS...........
I'm finding a lot of things that suck, when you try to skin Vista...geez...but, if I ever get this blind done, it will be pretty cool...there are things you can skin for Vista but not XP. I am almost done, I think, with the vista skin. Now I have to go back to my XP version and make changes there...so that both blinds look sorta alike...lol. Then I will need someone to test the vista version for m

Okay, I got the issue resolved...made the background bmp the same color as the button face. And, just had to change one of the tab item buttons. I have another question: I was browsing through the wba file, and noticed tons of Vista (blah-blah-bh) ~ files. Is it safe to delete those? I already know it is safe to delete the backup folder from when you clean the skin, but I don't know about this.

I live in the Tampa area of Florida. We hit a low of 27 here this morning, with ice all over everything outside! Geez...felt like I was up north somewhere! But, alas, it is finally supposed to warm back up to the 70's by Friday....yea!

Well, changing the background to just a plain dark bmp didn't change anything either. And, in the process of trying to import some different buttons as a test, SKS crapped out on me, and the skin went to classic! Geez! Well, managed to change to another skin and had to re-boot twice for it to take hold. But, now everything is ok. I had to delete the skin I was working on, but, thankfully I had made a wba file just before I started messing with this stuff. S
I've not tried texturing the tab background in vista, but looks like the buttonface is showing thru around the buttons, I'd suggest just not using a texture there.
Well, that sucks! Now I will have to change the tab buttons too...dang! I think you are right about the bleed thru...I think it is the button face too. I'll post back here and let you know if changing the background fixes the problem. Thanks!

On some of my XP skins, I made the user name very small, and colored to blend in with the top part of the start panel, so the name would not be visible. If you are using a Vista skin, you will not have a user name at all....Vista does not support that.

For some dumb reason, my push buttons in Vista on the tabs page show up with a light border around them. They do not do that anywhere else in the skin. They also do not do that in the XP version of the blind. How can I fix that?

Kitty, I already have a notebook for Vista! Any time I figure out something, I jot it down in notepad and print it out for future reference...lol. Anyway, this is the best I could get the text, without totally mucking up the skin....at least I can see the text under the mouseover. Thanks so much vStyler for all your help on this! Thanks! My pc is shut down for the night. I only have XP on my laptop, so i can't do this here. I don't even have SKS 6 on the laptop. I'll work on it in the morning when I get up....and post back here. I hope it works!
I'll be on Vista a bit later if you can't find the correct ones.
I monkeyed with the system colors and couldn't get anything changed....this is nuts! I am about ready to give up! I can't/won't upload a skin that looks like crap!
Try to use some outrageous, noticable colors in the system colors that match those colors for that area.. then you can see which color is affecting what.
1 Can't change that text color or the arrow image. 2. Pretty sure u can't skin the border around the fav section, The blue arrow there... also unskinnable. The buttons and text up top are skinned via your toolbar icons. You should also skin the Toolbarsplit and Toolbarsplitdropdown buttons in Vista to have IE and Explorer function correctly.
Thanks for the quick reply....I sorta figured that the folder bar text and arrow were not skinnab

Well, I finally started my 1st Vista skin. Talk about a learning curve! I am trying to figure out where things are/what they are called, so I can skin them. Right now, I have 2 issues that are driving me nuts! 1. Folder Bar: Where do I go to change the color of the text on the bar? Also, I want to skin that blue arrow on the bar as well. What is the name of the image for it, and what section is it in? For the life of me, I can't figure o
I and I think most WB builders draw a complete window minus the actual buttons and then cut it apart to get the top, bottom and sides this makes the part transition seamless! It is hard to build the windows in seperate pieces and get them to fit just right! Start menu the same way
I start by making my start panel first. The default size for the start panel is 380 px wide by 436 px long. The rest of my blind comes off the start panel..
