I don't think my upload is actually stuck in the In Processing status. It appears to have been approved but has no rating so it's invisible. It is not listed in the Progress Animations library but a search on "JWood" brings it up. All the stars are greyed out, so I assume it has no rating, thus making it "invisible". A search on "jebland" does not bring it up. It is not anywhere in "My Skins"

Perhaps this might be causing some of my problems: On personal web site: UserID: 1137 AccessID: (3) User Level: 4 On Wincustomize site: UserID: 1137 AccessID: (3) User Level: Subscriber (5) If anyone else that is having problems uploading would check for a mismatch, it might narrow down the
Yes, I know. It was in the dropdown list yesterday (pending 1), but it's gone today. I did a library search and found it. It has no rating so that's probably why it doesn't show.
I did manage to get a Progress Animation to upload yesterday. It was a new submission, not an update. Today it is just gone. Not pending, not in the library, just nothing. Isn't this fun!!!
My account shows AccessID=3 (I should be 4-Master Apprentice) And User Level 4 (I should be 5-Current ObjectDesktop and WinCustomize Subscription.) The only reason I am mentioning this is because I cannot update my skins and thought one of these might be preventing it. A new submission went through on the 3rd try. I tried to link to my gallery in the description and the site threw up, saying it was a dangerous cross script.
Much faster now.
A great guy that I have been missing!
1) Odd...I would try uninstall and re-installing it. 2) If it is a DesktopX skin, you need to use the DesktopX program to run it. 3) Not unless it is a widget. Widgets will run without DesktopX loaded (but it has to be installed) 4) Use IconX to get the large icons on your desktop.
I would like to see a requirement to list the names and authors of the skins displayed. "Thanks to all the authors" is mindless and repetitive. It really gripes me if I see something I like and there is no clue as to where it came from. It also might slow down the uploads (a little work involved) Just my 2 cents.
That is so cute!
Sput, if you "avoid it stopping through guile and cunning" please post how you did it. I have used hotmail for many years and will be most unhappy when it quits working thru Outlook Express. >
#1 Porting of operating systems is generally accepted and would fall under the "fan art" rules. Huh? What does this mean?
The green one looks like Ectoplasm by Cross. Couldn't find it here, you could try DeviantArt.
What version of Windowblinds are you using? There was a build a while back that broke the dialog backgrounds, but it's fixed now.
Cotton Top, there seems to be a problem with AMD64/SP2/CursorXP. If you read the following thread, it may help you. https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WC&id=315110#315496
jtb, I'm wondering the same thing. But then, they have about lost me when the version 9 update broke all the v. 7 and v. 8 skins. Guess I'll stay with version 8.
I think I read that the star indicates it is a "Featured Download". But why Objectbar would be featured when it hasn't been updated in 10 months, I don't have a clue.
Thank you Stardock (Brad) for making my computer experience so much more enjoyable. I started "customizing" my desktop with MS Themes back on Windows 95 and stumbled onto Windowblinds in 1999, I think. (WB was at version .65) I have been hooked ever since. I can't even imagine computing without ObjectDesktop or a day without visiting Wincustomize at least once.
This little free program will make the text background transparent on 98 & 2k. http://www.realityrift.com/pub/trtext/trtext.exe
Thanks, GM. I appreciate it.
GM, I like that background. I don't suppose you remember where you got it?
I downloaded this MSStyle and did a conversion to WB with SkinStudio. You are right, it does not do the start menu and taskbar correctly. What's interesting is the graphics are imported and the XPStuff.xp is generated but the references to the graphics are missing in the XPStuff.xp file. The margins, transparency settings, etc. are there. Looks like a bug in SkinStudio. You might want to e-mail Adam or post in the SkinStudio newsgroup about this. [email protected] [Message Edited]
From the IconPackager Newsgroup...This is supposed to fix the exe problem you are having. this happened to me and i was just about to reformat when i found this... ( i reworded it coz it wasnt very clear) if u never used regedit before dont worry its easy just do EXACTLY as it says here 1. run Regedit 2. delete this entry entry (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\she
I would recommend starting with Windowblinds...I think it is much easier to use than DesktopX.
DWatson, I don't know him, but probably so. I really like his Visual Styles and have ported several of them to WB for my own use. I saw his announcement about firefighting several weeks ago on Deviant Art. I have often wondered why he calls himself ~wbskinner when he uses that "Other Method"
