there will alwys be weaknesses in AI ... just like playing against a newbee player in other games head to head... ALL i'm saying is that just because someone finds a way to take advandage in weaknesses doesn't mean that its cheese.. just like when the americans droped the atom bomb.. and japan surendered... the USA had the upper hand and used it... it wan't a cheesy tactic...... just look at ALL the culteral conflicts in the world.. how ppl take advantage of each other ... Ame

and keep treasury from going down into negatives as the AI's seem to look at this when thinking about asking for tribute... every time (without fail) that my treasuey gets bellow 1000 or so bc they start...... and they'll keep increasing their demands trying to keep you in the negatives... once in the negatives you'll find it extreamly hard.. if not impossible to succeed.... unless you can get out of it quickly (a turn or 3 tops....)

memorys are funny things.... we tend to forget the bad things and remember the good things... eg: I just played RFTS (thats "Reach for the stars" for those who are too young to remember it.. it was one of the first of this type of game) and it was absolutly nothing like i remembered it... the same can be said by lots of old software out there including MOO ("Masters of orion" not no 1 after it.. as it wasn't known that there was going to be sequeals..) I did find that

I think that if you want a campaign that way then write it that way... (not sure though) .. in most games AOE, Warlords, etc its the same as it is in GalCiv.. each new scenerio you have to build up to the new techs from scratch... I agree that there scould be at least 2 forms of campaigns... one a tutouial type where you keep going over all the techs expanding your knowledge.. and the other progressive type... progressive types should also have some established bases / planets starbase

what i'm getting at is that no matter how the Culture bases work if an AI player places the same number of modules on a starbase then they counter each other... so it doesn't matter how they get calculated.. adding , multiplyine squaring, trippling, quadding what ever... its the same for all players.. so its NOT an exploit Just like playing someone in a game of chess.. the idea is to hide what your doing till its too late for your opponent to see what your doing till its to

Why I'd like it in window mode is because I use a spread sheet to keep track of things as I play.. (at the moment I print out a blank spreadsheet and write it up as I play.. BTW: keep an eye on Starfleets web page after the clone wars.. to grab a copy of my AP & GC Worksheet... in .xls format

My brother always said that in any computer game he played and lost .. that the computer cheated.. his reasoning.... The computer knows where your moving to because you've selected a destination.. knows what youve selected to develope.. what weapons you have.. and therefor the program knows what your doing.. and can prepaire and take advantage of it.. Note: he never said it when he beat the computer

a lot.. not all Dos based games will choke/not work on winXP win98 is still dos based.. so dosbased games should still work.. Also win98 doesn't have the same memory load (except for resources) so window games will run quicker with less physical memory (because not as much virtual memory is needed with lots of memory and a decent processor most window based games will work better

nope... it makes no difference... multiplying or adding... its the same for human and AI players... the AI players just need smarter AI to utalize them better... It would be a problem if the influence was calculated differently between players in the game... but as long as they are calculated the same way thers no problem.. others out there may say that your "vagabonding cash cow" tactic was cheesy... to me things are only cheesy when the AI players Can't do it as well.. (not

in a game where you can create your own mods.. all you really need if you really wanted to cheat is one starbase with lots of culture mods... so no matter how one tried to stop it it wouldn't.. Stardock built it into the game so that you can win this way... why fight it... if you don't like it then write your own game... as I said before.. if you get to know any game well enough it becomes easy and cheesy... I hate arcade games for this very reason.. If you don't want to use y

Starbases aren't an exploit... no more than ships are if you have more powerfull ships than the computer.. I mean to say.. just because its a way to beat the computer its not a @#$ dam exploit... there are many.. many.. many ways in which you can beat the computer.. the use of starbases is just one of them... sheesh.. it makes me so mad... I suppose you guys think that getting everyone allied to you to be an exploit too... or planting ships around AI's planets so that they can't get any trade o
