The current Guass platforms are all but useless. I don't think so. They're great if you put them up close to the enemies target... thats why I generally put 2 repairs, phase inhibitors, and then a mix of hangers and cannons all in a little bunch between the planet and the most likely jump gate. The hangars can take the attack to the enemy, and if the enemy uses anything but LRM frigates to engage teh gauss cannons can murder 'em! (especially with 2 re

How come this isn't applied to the Sins gameplay? Porbably because human beings have conceptual difficulties operating in 3 dimensions, and the UI to operate in the third dimension would also be pretty difficult ATM since we lack 3D displays / interface devices.
And I have the same problem as Ron Lugge, my fleets wait forever sometimes before jumping, its quite problematic and I have had many an invasion messed up because of it. Quickie solution is to wait for a good fraction of the fleet to be "waiting for formation" then double-right-clicking the move order. Functionally, it acts as a "jump now if you can!" button without leaving them free to jump individually to the next target because you forgot to re
How risky would that be? Create a restore point in XP, and the answer is not very. As in, assuming your computer is working right and you're not downloading malware, not at all. If something goes wrong, just use the XP restore point feature to roll back your drivers. Since drivers are purely kernel mode changes, XP's restore point should work just fine. Its not flashing the BIOS, which is risky.
Sure you are able to zoom in once in a while but otherwise you have to watch dots fighting dots. So? The clarity of the icons more than makes up for the graphics loss, especially since if your busy fighting a battle, you aren't watching the graphics.
Correct, if you lose the prereq after queueing something up it won't work. I believe in the next build it'll also continue on with the next one it can do, if more items are queued up after that one. Cool! Personally, I'm wondering if somehow the OP did what I did, and somehow it didn't stop the research properly. Still, I wish you guys would stop taunting us with "next build" announcements <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSm
I want some of the features they're talking about in there... and I want it now ! I want it now ! And I want it nooooooooooooooooooow! !
8) Save Games. Right now auto saves seem to have an unnecessarily long name, and auto saves from games either overwrite or just get lost in a blur with one another. It would be great if each game could have some meta data in it to keep the load game screen more organized. Something like a game number for each game that is started and a subset for each play session within that game. So a sub folder for each time you start a game, and then a sub sub folder for each play
Blair, I hate you with a holy passion. And Multi... thanks for trying
Seven in the Dawn of War series Well, too bad I've never played warhammer. I wouldn't look quite so stupid.
there have been games that have incorporated many races succesfully, but it takes a LOT of time and effort. Oh? Please name them. Highest I've ever seen is 4 races for War3... Unelss you count C&C general's use of "general" sub-races, which makes for 12... 3 distinct races with 4 similar sub-races each.
I don't think the developer is interested in balance testing yet. Eh, not final balancing but definitely gross balancing -- read the FAQ about it: "Beta 2 is the single-player gameplay test for Sins. Most of the gameplay for Sins will be present for testing and balancing during this phase of the beta test."
Yeah, the AI does waste resources sometimes bulking up defense platforms in dead end planets/asteroids. Thats not as wasteful as you might think -- defending dead asteroids or even dead-end phase lines pays out a lot when insurgency starts popping.
exactly ./poof! I declare it done!
There was a bug in bounty placement (fixed) where he could spend up to 50% of his current reserves on bounty alone (which is moronic ) and he wasn't able to avoid starving out capital

Yet another "oh no, not choke points in space!" post
The fewer turtle options, the better. Hey, I like turtling! Some of us prefer that playstyle don'tcha'know.
(5) Bombers autotarget other strike craft (which they can't hit) when there are other valid targets around. They just keep circling around each other. This was definately a bug and was fixed yesterday. We are still trying to confirm the other issues but they can't elude us forever buhahaha! <br
Nickname Nick, what your talking about sounds more like the AI needs improvement
Can anyone tell me, since i have yet to pre-order, if a capitol ship has like 1 hull/hit point left, is it still as lethal as if it had full health? Also can indiviudal weapon system be taken out physically or do u have to destroy the enitre ship? Thanks. Ships are fully capable until destroyed. And, ATM, there are no individual systems to take out. That said, I do have
Please respond on how you think a space game with 15 unique races with their own conflicts sounds? Im writing a BOOKS about it as well. Like an over-eager amateur who'll never actually do anything. Fact is, 15 is way to many. As has been stated elsewhere, the more races you have, the more balance you have to do. And on top of that, the learning curve gets more difficult as well -- at an exponential, rather than geometric or linear, rate. Books w
Besides that, fighters don't attack enemy ships nearly as well as bombers. True, and the reverse should also be true -- that while bombers can engage fighters, they really suck at it and require huge numerical superiority.
How exactly did you get your fleet of 10 to beat their fleet of 20? I'm kinda curious By flanking attacks, did you mean you had your entire fleet come in on the side of a line of enemy ships, so that only some enemy vessels could engage? While I definitely agree that micro should produce an advantage, that seems... excessive, IMO.
specially since the only thing there right is kinda useless or could be easily moved or resized. You mean the categorized report stuff? I use those all the time to jump to planets under attack, or ships that have just leveled...
