25 just seems like a better number to me, Eh, obviously there will need to be a cap of some kind, but personally I prefer infinite levels with a curve based leveling approach E. G. The stats are capped at some value, and each level gets you closer to (but never reaching or exceeding) that value.

Eh? Ion Cannon sounds so C&C-ish is that a good or bad thing.... i'm not sure Depends, original or one of the EA knock-offs?
Also, shield bonus / penalties might be applied "over time"... they don't come into full effect untill you've been near the star for a minute or two. That could make for an interesting scenario! Edit: Also, if the devs ever insert any kind of shield damaging / piercing weapons, that'll also start to play around with the strategic balance.
sprinkly nuke mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!!BANG!!!!! I'm quite sure that a nuke would be more of a boom, not a bang... All deep and kabloey!
My thoughts are that super-weapons ala C&C are a very bad idea. On the other hand, super-weapons ala Supreme Commander, where they can be countered are a very nice idea. In Generals, all you can hope to do is "weather the storm" when someone targets you with an ability; in SupCom, whenever a T4 or a nuke comes calling you either counteract it or loose the game. That said, I don't see any way to fit those into this game as it stands other than taking SupCom's T4 and creat
I've been playing around, and in my current game the AI only just got culture, so I'm able to play around with what will, hopefully, be something close to the "final" result of culture (because the AI hasn't had time to get its culture set in stone, planets don't auto-flip). There are a few UI level suggestions that came out of this: One is some indicator of how deep a planet is in another's culture (and how long it would take to flip if colonized). Another is an indicator on my own p
Construction Ships do MORE than just blow up....they also give experience to your enemies. OK, how about something useful to do besides get blown up.
Stars randomly giving off bonuses is a very unrealistic idea in my opinion, they should do more than they do now, but randomly giving off random bonuses is pretty ridiculous. Either your being redundant, or you didn't get my suggestion. Each star would get a bonus / penalty (or combo) "locked" at the time of map generation.
I was talking about AI's in general, not this AI... the devs have months left to develop this AI. Edit: And I just had a really fun attack... the enemy's attack force landed in my system while I was busy, stuck wailing on his capital untill after I destroyed its inhibitor.
Plas, part of that is the fact that defenses aren't supposed to be the primary protection for your base. "The best deffense is a good offense" is only one of thousands of axioms, all based around the same basic concept: If you sit back and let the enemy control the situation, he will win.
sorry being painfully stupid at the moment. does that mean I can leave it for a week or so till I DL it? So long as you have a serial you can register and download at any time. Guess I was wrong!
I think this thread has stepped past the twilight zone, into the dark side...
doh for not being able to read lol, poor eetmorsqrls.
You can say that again. And again and again and again? Actually, I don't think I've run into a Doctor Who Episode I haven't liked, with the exception of the first three. Whats wrong with the first three? I'm glad you asked! Sci-Fi hasn't gotten around to re-airing them, so I haven't seen 'em yet.
sorry being painfully stupid at the moment. does that mean I can leave it for a week or so till I DL it? If you happen to have already associated your purchase to the SDC account, yes. I think thats how the beta is keeping track of who's allowed in and not. They might have tagged it tot he serial numbers, but I really don't know that for sure.
btw, are cap ships going to have more expansive trees for leveling or is going to be set to the lazy-dev-10-level-standard-for-basically-any-game-ever form of leveling? Hey, its a "tried-and-true" recipe... Even if it does get a bit boring Infinite levels FTW!
try using smartexception, you can dl it from SDC How so? I'm not crashing, so its not doing any good.
I'm getting a pretty severe slowdown in game, but I can't seem to figure out what the bottleneck is. From what I can tell using my G12, my RAM and CPU aren't at full utilization, and its not just an FPS issue. Are there any diagnostics I can run to check? What happens is the game is stuttering, going fine for a second then stopping. Mouse and graphics appear unnafected, though the tool-tips that the mouse brings up seem to be delayed everytime it stops (if I move the mouse right at t
nobody commented on my gameplay post Because other than the fact that it was weirdly worded, it didn't really need a comment.
Or put the nuke in a doughnut!
What about 'em?
i think this might be some kind of glitch cos sometimes when i press a button like building new bombers on my kol flag ship (one of the first things i do) it laggs for about 4 seconds and sometimes it clicks on the wrong 1 like when im choosing specail abilities for it. my system is intel d 2.8Gh 1gig of ddr2 (dont know speed) Geforce7600 gt 256mb ddr3. I think I know what your talking about... there's about a half-second delay between when you click the
Ron, your scheme works, but it's less compatible with the standard "hold down the RMB and move the mouse to determine facing" for group moves. True, but since this game doesn't use facing yet...
How about being able to make a star go nova... it flares up and all crispy-fies anything in the star's grav well?
O.o wierd joke. Really wierd.
