The technology system is nice though, as is the exploration and colonization. The economy is interesting, but it needs some balancing (first it was too easy to go into a debt death spiral, now money is too easy to come by...), I think they will get this sorted out, or at least provide the ability to mod it to where it suits each player.
The debt spiral was actually the result of a bug, where fully developed worlds wouldn't get 'first call' on luxury resources and would

Taltamir, you might want to mention your experiance over on the main forums, which the devs follow pretty closely. It sounds like something there isn't working as desired.

I actually find SupCom 2 rather enjoyable. There is plenty they screwed up on (dropping the flow-based economy), but they did a lot of thigns right, too.
Personally, I've found the game a bit overwhelming so far. Once I get more used to it, I'll probably be better off, but right now I need to leave a lot of the automation on just because I can't figure out what I'm doing! O.o
A STAR RULER DEV!!! QUICK!! KNOCK HIM OUT AND RESTRAIN HIM!!! We must haz ze Star Ruler informationz!
But if we do that, we may never see the game itself! I must defend the dev!
Thanks for bumping this page; I must have missed it the first time around. The game looks cool, and I'd love to beta test it once it reaches that stage... unfortunately, the guy doing the summary, who says to PM him about a BT position, forgot to put down his name anywhere, so I have no clue who to contact! And I have an impressive BT resume, too, starting with Sins of a Solar Empire and moving in towards Armada 2526!
And Ron Lugge, SotS2 was first announced at PIC 2010 in January in Stockholm of all places. It was later formally confirmed on the Kerberos forums by head SotS honcho Martin Cirulis.
Well, at least it was a 'recent' development.
Theyr'e working on a sequel already? ... I need to pay more attention, none of my newsfeeds brought that to my attention. I need more newsfeeds I guess :(
I apolagize for the overharshness of my post; I'll stand by the sentiment, but the tone was a bit excessive. Does anyone know why such a crazy system was set up?
The two year old bump kinda did though.Way to go Magicke
Agreed! That said, I love -- and have loved -- e-books for years. I started with an old hand-held PDA (not even a smartphone, just a Tungsten E2) and migrated to a Palm Treo. I've been reading e-books for about 5 years now (I think), and almost exclusively e-books for 3. Webscription is my favorite; Mobipocket is a great backup. Unfortunately, thanks
This seems to be more of an issue with your computer than the forums themselves. If you have the time, try uninstalling and re-installing Firefox, and possibly running an anti-virus and anti-spyware app to clean up your system. You never know when there's a rogue process going crazy on your system. Bara
Agreed; browsers by design shouldn't have such issues. One of their major features is to try and
Now the real time battles are a turn off for some (myself included),
My biggest problem had more to do with tying UI functionality into research, which really ticks me off.
(been a while since I played, so there may be some late game tech that allows you to 'park' in space).
That's Armada 2526, Moo2 was pure point-to-point.
The problem rests with the requirment for unamious consent to do so
What idiot failed to learn from their history? I don't remember the exact details of the various cases I've heard about (the most famous one being Poland and their chamber of nobles, followed closely by the original American government before the constitution was adopted) but unanimity has never worked as a rule-making approach.
MOO 2 uses star lanes to navigate so you can have natural choke points.
Brad, are you smoking something? Moo3 had starlanes, but Moo2 didn't :P
Moo2 has tactical combat and FAR more interesting ship design choices.
Downside is that large battles, especially late game, become a horrible, poorly balanced nightmare of huge fleets fighitng, and the outcome being decided by who goes first.
FYI, 2526 and Moo2 were both 'open space', merely 'enhanced' with wormhole connections. Sword of the Stars has starlanes for one species, artificially generated starlanes for another, and open space (of various types) for the rest of the races. Personally, I prefer star-lane oriented approaches; they provide chokepoints and make interesting tactical decisions a necessity. Edit: That said, SOTS 'limited range, with the ability to extend v
You need to manually search every title to see if it got demo version linked to it.
... so? Do you randomly browse around for demos or something? Thanks for pointing me at this, it looks interesting. Now I just have to get $$$ together to buy it... I hate being a poor college student!
I'd guess that in as little as three years time it will be near Impossible to find a game that Doesn't use Multithreading
True, but it's going to take more time than that for models that support scalable multithreading (needed to take advantage of 4, 8, 16, etc core processors) to evolve.

I I wonder if Steam is trying to get an anti-trust lawsuit slapped against it... :D
