So why don't you hate all that radioactive waste that nuclear plants produce that will last for tens (or hundreds) of thousands of years? On the other hand, pollution from internal combustion engines is cleaned by the normal environment every day. The pollution controls simply allow us to use more vehicles before we overload the cleaning capability of the environment. As for riding to work, I'd hate to ride a bicycle 36 miles to work and back again every day, rain, snow, cold,

KarmaGirl - Why is it national news? To give parents of missing children hope. Isn't it cruel to give them false hope? In most of these cases the child is either never seen again or their dead body is found.
Ok gm, good point there. No real problem with it except for slightly annoying people like myself who are 'hard news' snobs
Why can't there be a generator on the car that uses the cars motion to generate power? Oh, they can do that, but it would slow you down. Then you would have to use extra energy to maintain speed, etc. Actually kona, they've solved many of the pro
It's great that she's back, but why the hell did it make national news? One young girl was kidnapped and later found, so what? I hate to sound callous, but this is more of a local and maybe state story, not national stuff.
Why Hydrogen powered vehicles are bad for the environment: It takes more energy to extract and compress Hydrogen into a form that vehicles can use than it does to use that energy directly without the intermediate step, i.e. Hydrogen. Where will the energy to extract and compress the Hydrogen come from? Nuclear plants? Coal fired plans? Gas turbines? It won't come from solar or wind. Hydroelectric power won't increase much either, we've already placed dams on most of the ri
What do you mean by "typical MicroSoft intrusions" ? It's owned by AOL
Ok, thanks pip
Sounds good I'll try it today.
Before downloading NextStart I have a couple questions about it for those who have used it. 1) Just how useful is it? 2) How easy is it to work with and customize? With regards to CoolPlayer, how does it compare against Winamp(2/3)? (memory usage, load time, audio quality, ease of building/managing playlist etc.)
Hibernate does not equal standby. They are two very different functions. When doing WinXP the folks at M$FT chose to hide the Hibernate button because they though the regular dumb Windows consumer would be confused by the differences between Standby and Hibernate. I think they were wrong, but the choice has been made. What I'm asking is whether or not I can add a hibernate button to that dialogue box.
I haven't played much with the new capabilities in WB 4, but I know you can now skin the 'Restart | Stand By | Shut Down' box. What I'm wondering is that in addition to skinning that box, can you add additional controls to it? Such as 'Hibernate'?

Even if you could, they would both be using your vid card and conflict with each other. Heck, they conflict with just about everything else that uses your vid card.
A combo of 1, 2, 3, and 4 depending on the week
Another problem is that when I'm using the Windows Taskbar, the cursor movements are also passed to the ObjectBar beneath
Shakey, I like the 'Cage' concept you linked to. I think 3D desktops have definite potential. I think what would be really good would be Win3D style features, combined with Microsoft Task Gallery methods for handling applications and windows, combined with 3DNA Desktop visual appeal, combined with ActiveWorlds modding ability and community features. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" bo
BoXXi, I don't have the link handy, but you might want to do a search on "Microsoft Task Gallery" If you find it, look around and report back with your thoughts on it It's ugly as heck, but the functionality aspects are intriguing. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddl
My view: If I had a broadband connection I'd definitely want weather, news, and stocks on my desktop. But with a dial-up connection, it just isn't worth it since they would slow down other stuff I downloadloa over the the inet. The other reason I'm not too big into DesktopX is that I almost always have a maximized window up and so for me the desktop might as well not be there. What OD components I use: WindowBlinds IconPackager ObjectDock ObjectBar (th

Nope hehe they don't. Also found that ObjectBar and 3DNA don't play nice tohether either. (I only have 32Mb video ram)
Thank you they gave me the addy of the newsgroup and I submitted my request there
In other words, you need to uninstall LogonStudio
