Been using the beta for a few weeks and it worked flawlessly. No need to repeat the added features since the news mentions it. The glow effect certainly is a nice one. As far as I know WB has usually prompted at unload it prior to install on standalone purchases. With SDC I don't get the prompt, although in general it probably is a good idea as I don't see the changes properly until I reboot. I only wish it would prompt to view a readme

There was a package here, but it has been removed. It wasn't very complete from what I read.
I used to use MMJB and just got sick of it. It gets slower and slower with each new version. The skins aren't that great and hardly anyone seems to make ones for it, since apparently they are fairly difficult to create. For a jukebox program I reccommend J. River Media Center
Corp. ? Are you asking if there is a suite of Windows Vista? Or a screenshot with them all in there? Not as of yet I don't believe, but you can make one.
I use CursorXP and can see the mouse just fine in Vista Explorer. I just don't get the file info down the bottom like it appears in the screenshot.
My question is why isn't this gadget available on WC ?
That's odd that they should ask for it to be removed. This skin isn't too different from the "Inspirat" theme. Although admittedly this is a lot closer to the skin used by MS, especially with the glow min, max, close buttons. I don't understand what problem they have with it, using the skin should mean that people are interested in the next version of windows. I do understand that they paid someone to create that look though. Oh well glad I got
Quite a good read. I like some of the ideas presented in Vista and some I am not so sure about, and it seems neither is Paul.
I believe it was mentioned it would open in August.
I like the direction things are going. The improvements are going to make things easier and quicker to use, once people get used to it and change habits.
I really like the added widget ability. It certainly doesn't hurt. However I was curious how to get the "uptime" as shown in one of the screenshots. I assume it might just be a simple text uptime widget of which I used to have one. I guess could simply find it and try though lol. Nice release, working well here, except the startup option. It doesn't want to startup unless I put it in the startup folder.
Other ports have appeared without issue.
I actually think overall the variety in Konfabulator widgets is greater than DX. Although I agree DX is going in the better direction via gadgets. I just hope gadget creaters get more variety in their releases.
I wasn't aware that it was in development currently. Just one of those programs that was on the back burner for now. Still its a nice notepad replacement.
I should think this is a clear indication that Widgets/Gadgets is shaping up to be a key "battleground" similar to the IM "wars". No doubt Google, MSN and AOL are not very far away from some type of Widget program. However DesktopX is poised to dominate having been in the business for quite awhile. Plus DX has an edge with gadgets not requiring the main program. Even though Konfabiyahoo is free, its still one less download to use DX gadgets.
I almost never fire up IE so I don't even know how fast or slow it is, I just know I like Firefox very very much. And I agree with Phoon, if you aren't on XP (or Win2K) yet, then you are in the minority.
I think the name is pretty good. It definitely signals a new direction. Although on the other hand, those not in computer circles won't have any clue what it is or where it falls in the order of things. Many computer users just use their computer with whatever OS it has, they are not even aware of which version. I have a friend who recently got a new PC with XP and she hated it. She wanted to go back to 98. Most of that is because XP felt foreign
Thanks, guess I missed that one.
I do agree its about time that they got away from version numbers (though still used internally) and year names. Although I think XP was an excellent name. Vista certainly is more telling than for example OS X. As already mentioned, the content and how it improves computing is vastly more important than its name. Unless of course it had been named Cowdung or something lol.
I don't know why I passed this thread by when I started having trouble on my PC. I guess I didn't realize it was indeed connected to my problems. I had Money05, Ulead and a couple other programs that wouldn't work right. I just updated to the newer version 3.00b.093 and things are back to normal. Everything works fine. I just wish I was paying attention and read this thread. I even posted a new thread that can now be ignored. Oh well glad it
Check this out! Its WinFX on steriods. Actually its more a combination of mouse and window effects. I don't know how practical it is but certainly something that is feasible for Longhorn anyway. Let me know what you all think about it. There is movie to download that tells more than you can see on the webpage. Link
Very nice. Not sure if I'll use it since its not that difficult for me to visit the site. It works well though.
I enjoy this website and what it offers. Its not so congested like I feel DA is. Plus its an easy site to use and find what you want. I do wish more would subscribe, its not that much money. I do wish however there was more incentive for those who haven't subscribed yet to do so. The unlimited downloads don't really matter to most, they'll find a way around it. It used to be you could look forward to getting a premium skin with it, however the las
A real class act. So sorry to hear of his passing. He had great passion for all this Star Trek.
Can't believe how impatient people can be! I'm excited as the next person about the this new development. I think as someone else mentioned, Frogboy was so excited they got it working, he wanted to let us know. Its not vaporware or tell and don't show. It obviously needs some work still. It is unusual I agree for Frogboy not to include a screenshot. Anyway I look forward to more info about this soon.
