So many of them are boxy (Akkan, Dunov, carrier, kodiak, for examples). Boxy ships would never EVER be made in space. The force of the vacuum on a boxy structure creates stress concentraiton points. So really, the drone host has a cylindrical/spherical belly, which actually is a logical shape for in space. Advent caps also

You need to place trade ports in every grav well from point A to point B in order to get the phase lane bonuses. Be careful in your trade route planning as the trade ships will take the shortest route and skip a few trade port stops if theya re in a loop.

I do use scout rush early-mid game but mix them up with some LFs for some extra firepower. This did work a few times against Kanrak and LRF rushes at critical planets due to being able to clear out the rebels quickly and detaching some scouts to detect and respond rapidly to incoming enemies.

This advice column is full of really bad tips to practice in hopes of getting tier 5 status. Tip 1, you didn't scout so the gauss cannons killed the fleet. Tip 2, you didn't scout so the group blundered into a missile barrage because of a phase inhibitor. Tip 3, you didn't scout so that 201 ship fleet destroyed your 200 ship fleet. Tip 4, your single

Guess nobody ever thought about the big red button on the Argonov. If you had a fullly upgraded military and in danger of losing the base, downgrade a couple of weapons bays and blow up the enemy fleet as they arrive. I should have said a late game powerful TEC empire in my earlier post as frig factories and trade ports are easily destroyed by a squad of LRF ships and/or bombers but the Argonov with a decent fleet and support structures will be hard to take out.

This downgrading idea will give the TEC a huge advantage over the Vasari and Advent. It will give rise to a stale tactic called "Argonov creep" where a powerful TEC player manages to contruct and fully upgrade the starbase in an enemy gravwell. After victory, the TEC player can downgrade the base and then utilize the tradeports and ship contruction upgrades in order to pump more ships out and pummel the enemy. This will make tradeports and frig factories useless for

There's a lot of odd redesigns but hopefully they changed it to better accomodate the terrian. That's one of my cheif complaints of Supreme Commander, artillery parked on a hill doesn't shoot a bit farther or units don't slow down going up the hill so terrain doesn't factor much into the stragety.

I lost all my planets in a MP game but still had a fleet so I went raiding commerce and fed all the bounty on our ecowhore who was a newbie who spent all his cash on starbases to protect HIS planets instead of supporting his teammates. Was fun watching him curse me for being stupid feeding him with his 49 cred/sec economy.

I wouldn't say "dumbing down" but Subcom 2 as I read in a preview will focus more on managing your fighting units and less on economy. The economy model in the expansion for Supcom is difficult to manage and can put off new players since a misplaced building during the early stages of battle can cost you the game. Instead of the big battles in Subcom vanilla, Forged Alliance battles are reduced to superweapon rushing and Tech 3 air unit battles.

1. Civilization 3: Conquest, introduced everything that didn't work at all in the grand scheme. 2. Master of Orion 3, even with the recent mods the game lacks soul. 3. Ultima VIII: Pagan, talk about deviating from everything that made Ultima VII good.
